Is Floyd Mayweather tarnishing his legacy with these controversial fights? What do you think?

The former WBC champion, Floyd Mayweather, garnered quite a bit of attention from the fighting community as he took on the fight against John Gotti III. The duo had previously faced each other and it was warped in a bit of drama. And it seemed like the drama followed the fighters to their recent exhibition match, as Mayweather was forced to request a change in referee in the second round.

While the entire world was debating Mayweather’s decision to fire the referee, Daniel Cormier and Ben Askren threw some dirt at the former boxing champion. The duo were pretty oblivious to the matchup between Mayweather and Gotti.

On the 31st of August, the former professional mixed martial artist, Ben Askren, made an appearance on DC’s YouTube talk show. As the conversation continued, the UFC commentator pointed out that ‘Pretty Boy’ stepped into a squared ring once again for a fight. DC revealed that he had absolutely no idea that Mayweather still fought.

Askren weighed in on that and said, “It’s something weird about it. But he’s not, it was like an exhibition. It was like one-” Cormier blurted out that it was indeed a fight against John Gotti III. But Askren knew ‘Money’ and Gotti fought each other once before. It was pretty clear that the former UFC fighters were not happy about Mayweather’s recent moves.

DC exclaimed, “What is going on with this guy?” Mayweather was already in his late 40s and fighting at such age has often accompanied dangerous injuries. But the shocker came when ‘Funky’ confessed that he didn’t even know about Mayweather’s exhibition fight. He said, “I have no idea. That’s one where like, who paid for that? Because to your point, I had no idea. I saw it on Twitter the next day. Like I had no idea that it was going on.”

While DC and Askren threw dirt at Mayweather for fighting Gotti III, Joe Rogan was quite impressed with how ‘Money’ broke the code of earning through hate. Let’s see what the UFC color commentator had to say about Mayweather’s earning mindset.

Joe Rogan commends ‘Pretty Boy’ for earning through envy and hate

In episode #2195 of the Joe Rogan Experience, the 56-year-old podcaster sat down together with neuroscientist Andrew Huberman for a 3-hour-long talk. During the conversation, the JRE host stumbled upon Mayweather’s excellent fighting prowess. But the thing that impressed him the most was the boxer’s ability to earn money through unconventional methods. And it did rely on the negative emotions that Mayweather has amassed.

Rogan said, “He’s a genius in figuring out a way to keep making money. And one of the reasons why people watch him fight is… because they hate him because he talks so much sh– and he’s like ‘look at my million-dollar watch, look at my f—ing jet’… So that you hate him, people hate him. He creates envy… and you want him to lose, but he’s not gonna. He’s so good.”

Fighting at the age of 47 was something that greatly impressed Rogan. Needless to say, Gotti is one of the most formidable fighters in the boxing realm. But he chose to fight ‘Pretty Boy’ just for the money he would pocket. Mayweather indeed has no scuffle with anyone, but he does take on fights and earns millions. This lifted the former boxing champ higher up in Rogan’s view.
