Arguably the world’s best pound-for-pound boxer, Terence Crawford, seems to be in Henry Cejudo‘s good books, judging by what the former UFC double champion had to say during a recent conversation. ‘Triple C’ didn’t just add praise to the former two-division undisputed champion, but also made a comparison with another boxing star, who happened to be Devin Haney.
Terence Crawford and Devin Haney have both been undisputed champions, but ‘Bud’ did it in two weight classes—light welterweight in 2017, and welterweight in 2023—and Henry Cejudo couldn’t praise this achievement enough. ‘Triple C’, while claiming that Haney didn’t put in as much work as Crawford did on his way to becoming the best, even put Crawford in the same bracket as Vasiliy Lomachenko.
“That’s what makes Terence special because he’s done it in two weight classes. You know what I’m saying? It’s Lomachenko, too,” Henry Cejudo stated on the Pound 4 Pound podcast. “Yeah, Davin Haney, I forgot who he beat [and] became, you know, unified everything. But he didn’t work his way through to say, ‘Hey, I’m the unified champ from the WBO, WBC, IBF… WBA.”

Well, let’s have a look at the records of Terence Crawford and Devin Haney to see if Henry Cejudo’s claims make sense. The first glaring thing about each of the duo’s records is the fact that ‘Bud’ is close to reaching Floyd Mayweather’s record with a 41-0 record, while Haney is a notch behind with a 32-0-1 record. The common belief among the boxing community is that Crawford is perhaps the most underrated boxer, even though he’s beaten opponents with more caliber than Haney. That win over Errol Spence Jr. was, in fact, a pretty big one for the WBA champion.

Well, Henry Cejudo isn’t the only one on the Terence Crawford bandwagon because a veteran boxing promoter appeared to praise him as well. In addition to that, the veteran promoter also believes that he has the ability to beat one of the faces of boxing.

Bob Arum once claimed Terence Crawford could beat Canelo Alvarez
While everybody has their opinions on Canelo Alvarez and his superstar status, Bob Arum, who’s been in the boxing game for a lot longer than anyone else, had his own take on ‘Saul’. As we know, Arum and Terence Crawford do not have the best of relationships, given that they even went to court after ‘Bud’ claimed to have faced racial bias, breach of contract, among other things. The veteran promoter appeared to praise the WBA champion for his boxing prowess.

The 93-year-old claims that Crawford’s got a chance against Canelo because he can never be “counted out” in any fight, after talking about his aforementioned win over Errol Spence Jr. “I wouldn’t count Crawford out in any fight because Crawford has a unique talent. He’s a great boxer, a boxer-puncher, and he’s totally ambidextrous,” Bob Arum told Fight Hype in January. “So he drives his opponent crazy because the opponent trains to fight a right-handed fighter and ends fighting a southpaw. And that’s what happened to Errol Spence.”
