The never-ending debate surrounding boxing vs. MMA seems to be a significant turning point as Francis Ngannou’s debut has raised the MMA bar higher as compared to boxing. Ngannou’s battle against Tyson Fury was an exceptional event and his performance against the British giant was even more exceptional. Despite having only trained for a few months and adapting to the sport, Ngannou delivered a dominant performance that left the entire world in awe.

With MMA fighters making appearances in the boxing ring on multiple occasions, it appears that the time has come for boxers to venture into the octagonal arena. The ongoing debate may remain unsettled until a top-tier boxer dares to enter the UFC’s domain. According to Francis Ngannou, Deontay Wilder is poised to be the first elite boxer to take up this challenge. Let’s delve further into this.

During a recent appearance on ‘The MMA Hour’ with renowned sports journalist Ariel Helwani, Francis Ngannou engaged in a discussion about the ongoing MMA versus Boxing debate. Helwani inquired about the readiness of any boxers to make the transition to the world of MMA.

Ngannou addressed Helwani’s query by stating that Deontay Wilder is training in MMA and there have been discussions of him fighting in the octagon. Ngannou said “In fact, we have spoken about that. In fact, that has been in the discussion. So, that’s something that can potentially happen. So, Deontay Wilder, for a couple of months, I mean, for a little while now, has been training in MMA because there is an option here. Nothing is said, but something’s been coming out to my ear, to my attention, so that’s something that makes sense.”

‘The Predator’ further added that Wilder is serious about his MMA scene “ He’s really serious about MMA. I know a lot of people talk, ‘Yeah, I do this in boxing, and I’m gonna do that in MMA,’ but I think Deontay Wilder is very interested in MMA. And he’s been, like, just to step in the octagon and go MMA all in. But again, it’s gonna be hard; it’s gonna be a different base for him. Unlike this time when I was the one experiencing climbing the mountain, he’s gonna be the one climbing the mountain now.”  Wilder’s attempt to venture into the world of MMA is commendable. However, it can turn out to be a brutal experience for the elite boxer, or at least the fans think so!

Fans offer a stern warning to Wilder before competing in MMA

After Francis Ngannou dropped the bombshell, the news spread like fire. Fans took to the internet to express their opinion. Some of the comments of the fans are as follows:-

With those legs, Deontay has no chance.

I doubt any boxer having the balls to fight in MMA,i will believe it when i see it

Wilders weighs in at 220 lbs and doesnt know wrestling..this does NOT makes sense

Lol this is never going to happen. Not a single elite boxer is going to do a cross over fight when they can man 50 times the payday in boxing.

One leg kick and Wilder is out…

If this happen RIP WILDER

Man wilder gonna break both his damn legs while making the entrance, let alone getting in that cage with Francis

Clearly, Wilder’s decision to fight in MMA is a bad choice, at least according to MMA fans. They emphasize that Wilder’s legs are not meant for MMA fighting. Nonetheless, they claim that Wilder will be defeated if he were to fight in MMA.
