Francis Ngannou finally got his wish to fight Tyson Fury in a boxing match. Not only that but he also realised his dream of fighting under his own promotional banner, the GIMIK Fight Promotions. Recently, he opened up about his new GIMIK, which will represent his first-ever boxing match in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, he even had a message for UFC President Dana White regarding gimmick fights.

After Jon Jones and Tyson Fury got into a verbal war on social media, Dana White stepped in to book a gimmick MMA fight between the two heavyweight fighters. Strangely enough, this was the same thing that he staunchly opposed when Ngannou wanted to fight ‘The Gypsy King’ while in the UFC. In a recent appearance on ‘The MMA Hour’, ‘The Predator’ shared a message for the 53-year-old promoter. Let us see what he had to say.

Dana White sometimes says things that go against his previous statements, and that stuck with the French-Cameroonian fighter. However, he doesn’t keep track or concern himself with anything the UFC president has to say. Ngannou said, “I don’t follow the track on what Dana said. There are a lot of things that Dana said that you can’t follow the track on him.” He added, “I don’t worry about that.”

Furthermore, Ngannou mentioned that his new promotion aims to put on gimmick fights (a jibe at White), the same thing that the UFC head honcho wanted to do with Jon Jones and Tyson Fury. He even insisted that the UFC president send all the gimmick fights to him and he’ll make sure to handle it. Ngannou added, “Next time that he has a gimmick fight, he should send it over to me. I’ll handle it… GIMIK Fight Promotions.” But is ‘The Predator’s promotion a real thing? Let’s find out.

‘The Predator’ comments on whether his promotion is a real deal

When Ariel Helwani asked Francis Ngannou about the legitimacy of his GIMIK Fight Promotions, the French-Cameroonian assured the journalist that it was, in fact, a real fight promotion. He said, “It is a real thing [his promotion]… It’s a real thing already. It’s on.” The promotion is already up and running.

Additionally, ‘The Predator’ also confirmed that he is planning to set up fights and host events within his new promotion. It is also a part of his boxing match against the reigning WBC heavyweight champion. “I’m gonna put on events for sure. Gimmick fights. It is part of this fight [against Fury].”

Rather than engaging in an online squabble, Ngannou took the words of the UFC president and leveraged them for marketing purposes for his upcoming bout and any potential future fights he may organize. It was a rather smart move from the former UFC heavyweight champion.
