The relationship between Jake Paul and former UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal was a strained one until they both decided to resolve it and bury the hatchet. With both fighters taking jibes at and discrediting one another, it seemed like a fight between the two was the only way to settle the beef.
However, after taking the fans for a ride in what happened to be a ‘mock confrontation’, Masvidal and Jake Paul sat down and discussed what incited them, a possible match between the two, and why it would never have been possible for Masvidal and Paul to face off against each other.

‘Gamebred’ has made a name for himself within the MMA world. Easily one of the most prolific and technical fighters of his generation, he was ready to go toe-to-toe with Jake Paul. As it happens, Jake Paul didn’t take too well to Masvidal either and wanted a piece of him just as badly. Unfortunately, that match never happened.
In a recent interview, when Jake Paul started talking about wanting to squash their beef and recollecting their verbal feud, Masvidal opened up on why it wasn’t possible for them to face off back in the day because the UFC wouldn’t allow their fighters to foray into professional boxing.
“If I’m being honest with you, the conversations I’ve had with the UFC, today, you know, they’ve never, like wanted to let me go do boxing. And they’ve shut down things like that – of that nature. So I don’t… I don’t think, you know. how far away we really were from doing something like that,” said the former UFC fighter.
YouTuber-turned-Boxer Jake Paul, who has been taking professional boxers to the cleaners, also weighed in saying, “No, no. I know how far, bro. I mean, the only time he’s [Dana White] ever let someone do it is Conor,” referencing Conor McGregor‘s boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Jorge Masvidal agreed with Jake Paul on this as he called Floyd Mayweather Jr. “the biggest pay-per-view machine of ever.“
UFC President Dana White has been stringent on his policies and rules when it comes to the UFC. Therefore, it was quite a bit of a shocker for most UFC fighters when Conor McGregor was given the pass to tussle with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The boxer made $300 million while Conor McGregor walked away with a clean $100 million. Clearly, it is a decision that not everyone on the roster is happy with.

Masvidal and Paul – From combat rivalry to combat chivalry
Fighters, no matter what discipline or banner they fight under, are not too fond of each other. There is mutual respect, needless to say, but their innate urge to fight everyone is just too apparent. Jorge Masvidal fears no one and at one point had a good mind to take on both the Paul brothers. However, the retired UFC fighter is now on good terms with Jake Paul, having trained him for an important fight in his career as well.
