Dana White has a special place for some rising stars in his heart. The UFC head honcho is often seen supporting and promoting Irish sensation Callum Walsh. Walsh is a young boxer on the rise and has a brilliant record of 9-0 coming up to his next fight that White just announced.

Walsh is a 23-year-old boxer who has done wonders in his career so far. Could he be a future UFC star? Now that’s questionable but his boxing career is rather interesting to look at. Now, he’ll be fighting a veteran who is more than 10 years older than him. Can he win against experience?

Dana White met the boxer through Freddie Roach, the man who once trained none other than Mike Tyson. Roach now overlooks Walsh’s career and training and when White met the young boxer, perhaps he saw the potential in the Irishman like he once saw in Conor McGregor.

Walsh has won most of his bouts via sensational knockouts. One of his opponents, Juan Jose Velasco called it quits after the fourth round. Velasco had taken too much damage to continue and that’s how the young star collected his seventh win. Now, he’s on his way to fight the veteran in Dauren Yeleussinov at Maddison Square Garden.

The bout is meant to go down on the 15th of March with Hollywood Fight Nights. The day happens to coincide with Saint Patrick’s Day. Dana White posed with coach Freddie Roach and Walsh in a picture attached to the announcement. He shared the post on his Instagram story to further promote the upcoming bout.

White has been rather vocal about how much he believes in the young star. He once opened up in a conversation to speak about how incredible the boxer is that his fight has made it to the UFC Fight Pass already. Here’s what he said about him.

White was very impressed by Walsh early on. This is when the boxer still had the record of 3-0 and perhaps he was right about him being as good as he is since the fighter just never lost ever since. “I met him through Tom Loeffler and Freddie Roach and I like the kid,” White said.

“I like him personally, I like his style, he’s 3-0 with three knockouts and Loeffler puts on these unbelievable fights in LA, it’s sold out already this fight is sold out on Fight Pass on Thursday night.” Walsh himself is an avid fan of the UFC showman Conor McGregor.

“I’ve been watching McGregor since I was 12 years old. Yeah, I used to stay up late at night to watch his fights and the first time I actually met McGregor, he already knew who I was.” The boxer told Cageside Press about the time he met ‘The Notorious’ at a UFC event.
