UFC fighter Paulo Costa was a hot prospect. After all, his long winning streak and four back-to-back wins via T/KO in the UFC demonstrated his expertise in the sport. However, his fight against Israel Adesanya didn’t go as planned. With that, he tasted his first MMA defeat. Later on, he went on to lose against Marvin Vettori as well.

He also experienced weight-cut issues during his fight against Vettori, wherein the Brazilian fighter weighed several pounds overweight. He thus received lots of criticism. It doesn’t seem to be stopping.

After this, several Instagram users trolled him. One person commented, “paulo clownin on everyone these days”. Another person used the reference of him drinking wine before the Adesanya fight and commented, “no wine please”.

The next Instagram user wrote, “you couldn’t even finish the skinny guy @stylebender . How dare you to make jokes about OG heavyweights when you cant even finish the “skinny guy” 😂😂😂”.

Yet another Instagram user wrote, “pfft if he can make weight”.

So it looks like his two consecutive losses have made people doubt his abilities as a fighter. Hence, seeing him return to the octagon soon and bag a spectacular win would be interesting. Costa has incredible knockout power. Out of 13 MMA wins, a whopping 11 of them were through T/KOs. Clearly, the fighter believes in finishing his opponents.

After failing to make weight prior to his fight against Vettori, many people began talking about whether the fighter should move up a division. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. In January, Costa’s manager spoke to ‘Sherdog‘ and mentioned that the fighter will continue at middleweight.

Upon his return, he might have to be more careful with weight-cutting so as to not infuriate the fans or the promotion.
