Conor McGregor’s friend and training partner, Dillon Danis, seems to be interested in another sport. ‘El Jefe’, who last fought in 2019 and has had just two fights in MMA, is interested in boxing.

As reported by ‘DAZN’, Danis took a dig at a few boxers. He reportedly said, “These boxers are my prey. I could eat Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis & Devin Haney in the same night.”

However, UFC featherweight fighter Terrence McKinney was quick to hit back. He wrote, “Why y’all even givin him attention you’re better than this DAZN”.

Crossovers in combat sports can be interesting. Wrestlers like Brock Lesnar and CM Punk entering the UFC were huge. Similarly, Conor McGregor’s boxing bout against Floyd Mayweather generated a lot of interest. Several boxers like Holly Holm and Claressa Shields have also found success in MMA.

Thus, it would be interesting to see someone like Danis get into boxing. He is trained in jiu-jitsu and has a good ground game, but boxing as a sport would be entirely novel where his primary skills would not be able to help him.

Many had appreciated McGregor for holding up against Mayweather. Even though he lost the match, fans loved how he performed, considering he was purely boxing for the first time. McGregor was purely a striker in MMA and lost, so one might wonder how Danis would fare in boxing as a jiu-jitsu expert.

Dillon Danis: His rise to fame

Danis (2-0), who started his professional MMA career with Bellator MMA, has fought just twice and successfully submitted his opponents. However, when ‘The Notorious’ and Khabib Nurmagomedov were bitter rivals, Danis too was involved in those events.

As reported by ‘MMA Fighting‘, the Russian athlete was not too fond of McGregor’s entire team. After submitting him at UFC 229, Nurmagomedov jumped outside the Octagon and attacked ‘El Jefe’ because other coaches were too old.
