Britain’s Daniel Dubois (22-2) put on a brilliant display to crush his compatriot Anthony Joshua (28-40) in a match that ended by a knockout in the fifth round, in front of a packed Wembley Stadium. The local crowd, approximately 96,000 fans, were left stunned to see their idol fall. From the first round, Dubois revealed his intentions to win decisively. And he sure did, as the IBF heavyweight champion dominated the fight from the outset.
It truly was an affair that caught everyone by surprise. And one of the biggest fans of the fight was none other than Conor McGregor. ‘The Notorious’ was present in the arena to witness the fight. Yet, unlike most fans, he believed it was an equal matchup for the two. So much so, that he has now asked Turki Alalshikh to let Dubois and Joshua have a rematch.
In a recent live stream on Kick, the Irishman was asked whether he put a bet on the Dubois-Joshua fight. It was then that McGregor revealed that while he did not place a bet on the fight, he really wished to see a rematch. According to ‘The Notorious’, it was a fight where Joshua did have his moments and had spots where he easily could’ve capitalized. As a result, McGregor offered some tips to the boxer.

He said, “Sometimes you get fed up; you might get a little bit tired at some. Joshua was almost at that stage. Make no mistake, the only thing what should happen next is doing Joshua and Dubois as a rematch, yeah. And stand the ground. Don’t even go forward; don’t even go back. Stand your ground and knee. Joshua has a good, strong jab; he almost came back, and he did hold him in that before he got caught with the shot. That’s a fight between two very evenly matched fighters that have just put on a spectacle for us all. And from the ninety-six thousand screaming fans, on behalf of Riyadh Season and Sheikh Al-Turki, do that again. For real, do that again.”
In the much-anticipated fight, Dubois attacked Joshua as soon as the opening bell rang. Asserting his powerful right hand, which landed repeatedly on Joshua. The first knockdown came in the opening round, with Joshua struggling to defend and moving backward, leaving himself vulnerable to Dubois’ strikes. Joshua was knocked down again in the fourth round, raising concern in his corner and among the audience. Everyone was visibly shocked by the one-sided nature of the fight.
