Former UFC opponents José Aldo and Jeremy Stephens met once again, but this time in the boxing ring on the main card of Gamebred Boxing 4. The former MMA fighters put on their boxing gloves and engaged in a thrilling six-round match that ultimately ended in a majority draw. The conclusion of this bout drew a myriad of reactions, including one from the soon-to-be UFC Hall of Famer’s former opponent Conor McGregor. The Irishman proposed the idea of him and Aldo boxing, but the 36-year-old took a hostile stance when he learned about McGregor’s proposal. Aldo rejected the Dubliner’s proposal as a result.

McGregor’s suggestion clearly struck a nerve, as Aldo had lost to him in just 13 seconds during their UFC bout in 2015. However, that wasn’t the end of the discussion. ‘The Notorious’ once again responded to the Brazilian’s harsh refusal in his trademark fashion, being snide and savage as always.

During the post-fight press conference, when asked to share his thoughts on Conor McGregor‘s idea of boxing him, the usually calm and composed Jose Aldo had a rather fierce response for the Irishman. “Conor [has a] big mouth. He always talks a lot of sh*t. He has a scheduled fight.”, said the 36-year-old [per translator].

He then added, “Conor, shut your f**king mouth. We were supposed to fight before in the UFC. You run, and now you still talk sh*t.” Although McGregor had nice words to say about Aldo when he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, this back and forth between the two shows that the camaraderie displayed at that time was perhaps owing to the moment. As Aldo reacted dismissively to McGregor’s proposal, it became apparent that the UFC superstar isn’t one to back down. McGregor struck back at Aldo, stating how he was just being “nice” to him.
