Conor McGregor has never failed to make an appearance in the headlines. One instance that garnered quite a lot of attention back in 2023 was when he shoved his Irish stout down Anthony Joshua’s throat, right after the British professional boxer knocked Robert Helenius out cold. Needless to say, Joshua looked utterly confused as the ‘Mystic Mac’ approached him with a pint right outside the squared ring. As expected, the act unleashed a fury of comments targeting McGregor’s hilarious behavior as video footage of the event went viral on social media.
But it seems like McGregor hasn’t forgotten the incident. One year later, the Irish mixed martial artist reflected back on the events and claimed that he never forced the boxer to drink his stout.

On the 16th of August 2024, ‘The Notorious’ took to Instagram and shared multiple pictures of him partying. One of the pictures took the MMA world back to the time when Joshua KO’d Helenius. During the post-fight interview, AJ announced that he wanted a crate of free Forged shipped to the Badger Pub, claiming that the locals would be pretty happy for it. However, McGregor seemed to believe that Joshua meant to ask for his Forged Irish Stout. He went on and brought out a pint of the beer and fed the heavyweight boxer. But when the fight fans put McGregor in the crosshairs for forcing the pint on Joshua, he had to come up with an explanation.
In the caption of the IG post, McGregor wrote, “1 year ago today, @forgedirishstout busy year! Also for the record I didn’t make Joshua do anything. He exited the ring post his amazing victory and came straight to me and said “where is my Forged!” I gave him mine. It was the first time that had happened at a fight. It’s seriously tasty and incredibly refreshing you won’t get better!”
But the explanation also included a revelation. The Dubliner revealed that Joshua loved the Forged Irish Stout, as he ordered “ordered multiple keg loads of it to his local pub!” The caption continued with the former UFC champ, lifting his beer up high. But the world’s attention was fixated on an upcoming announcement. McGregor continued, “I am very proud and grateful and extremely driven being at the helm of this quality product. It’s quality, point blank. BEST ON THE MARKET BY FAR! We have some mega announcements coming soon for you all, stay tuned! FORGED ARMY!”

Anthony Joshua fails to identify the Forged Irish Stout!
In the press conference after his 7th-round KO victory over Helenius, a reporter asked the British professional boxer if he switched off after taking some sips of McGregor’s beer. However, the 2-time former unified world heavyweight WBA champion mistook the Forged Irish Stout for the popular Irish beer, Guinness.
Joshua went on to talk about what his former coach, Sean Murphy, taught him about the health benefits of Guinness. It was indeed a good source of iron. “So I thought, you know what, let’s neck a bit of iron,” the boxer recollected. Immediately after the boxer finished his talk, another reporter pointed out that McGregor’s drink was the ‘Forged Irish Stout’ and not Guinness. Needless to say, the entire room burst out with pangs of laughter, with Joshua laughing the loudest.
