Will Terence Crawford's $200 million temptation lead to a legendary clash with Conor McGregor?

Conor McGregor simply won’t back down. In separate interviews, the Irish star and boxer Terence Crawford shared that Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, offered them a two-fight agreement: A boxing match and an MMA fight. And if you know McGregor, you also know he would grab such an opportunity.

After all, he lost against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017 and didn’t get the opportunity to face the boxer in the cage. Now Alalshikh’s offer seems perfect, but Crawford keeps declining it. “They offered me the fight. Me and Conor got on the phone and started politicking to try and figure something out. Man, I’m not getting in no f—ing Octagon with you so you can be kicking and elbowing me!” the boxer shared. But did he change his mind?

Well, as per several sources, the two-fight offer is as high as $200M and maybe that is one reason the boxer is ready to try out something new! No wonder Crawford tweeted “tempted” after getting to know about the offer.

‘DAZN’ released a video where Crawford showed the world that he began his groundwork training. In the video, he could be heard saying, “Getting back on the mat! Ay, Conor, getting back on the mat! Stay tuned, baby! Stay tuned!” What was McGregor’s reaction?

He was impressed and as soon as he stumbled upon the video, he shared it on his IG story. In the caption, the former UFC double champion wrote, “Is this you accepting the fights now, my brother Terrence! MMA is Saudi for Riyadh season. Followed then by a boxing bout! Tremendous Terrence, well done. I ACCEPT! @turkialalshikh ITS ON BABY RIYADH SEASON WITH THE NEW BRUCE LEE, CONOR MAC G. And boxing’s pound for pound number 1 tremendous Terence C! JUST WOW!”

Conor McGregor then went on to promise a show that people would have seldom witnessed. “What a spectacle! You’ve never seen these moves Turki. I am a master martial artist. I am the maestro. Let’s go. I will show.”

Interesting Fact: Crawford may be a boxer, but he comes from a family of wrestlers. His grandfather, father, and uncles have trained in the sport and his young sons also wrestle.

However, conversations about McGregor versus Crawford can be traced back to 2020. Back then, the boxer said he was willing to enter the UFC Octagon under the right circumstances. “They put that money up, hell yeah I’ll go over there and fight him,” he stated. Fast forward to 2024, Alalshikh is willing to put in the money.

Meanwhile, McGregor’s UFC rival, Nate Diaz, did something to steal the Irishman’s thunder. Is Diaz interested in a boxing match too?

Right after ‘Hunter’ initially refused McGregor’s $200 million offer, Nate Diaz tried his luck. The Stockton native also had the ‘Mystic Mac’ in his crosshairs.

He took to X and wrote, “I box Crawford and fight Conor next 168 Ifg.” But McGregor wasn’t someone who was going to take a call out ever so lightly. He lashed out at his former opponent, and remarked in the comments, “What a shape for a body shot!”

Let us not forget that the 39-year-old retired from the UFC and post that got into boxing. He first faced Jake Paul in 2023 but lost via a unanimous decision. Next, he faced Jorge Masvidal earlier this year and won through a majority decision. With this win, Diaz avenged his November 2019 loss (UFC 244) to Masvidal.

Nevertheless, the fighting community can expect ‘Bud’ to fight ‘The Notorious’ first. After all, he has begun training in grappling. With the amount of money on the line, the boxer can simply forget about the Irish fighter’s strong kicks and elbows. However, one definitely cannot take McGregor’s striking prowess lightly.

Do you think Crawford will fight McGregor in both MMA and boxing? Who do you think will win if the fight ever materializes? Drop down to the comments below and let us know what you think.
