Did Conor McGregor make the right call firing Mike Perry over Jake Paul's drug test scandal?

Conor McGregor isn’t happy with Mike Perry’s performance against Jake Paul! The Irish MMA star recently made waves when he announced he had become a part-owner of the BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship). ‘Platinum’ is one of the biggest names currently competing in the BKFC where the former UFC star holds the title of the ‘King of Violence’ among the bare-knuckle brawlers and has revealed that his contract is more lucrative than his UFC days as he got paid $600,000 for his most recent clash against Thiago Alves in the bare-knuckle ring!

Perry took on Jake Paul in an 8-round cruiser-weight clash at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida in a highly anticipated fight. The bout was originally scheduled to be a clash against Paul and Mike Tyson, but due to the legendary boxing heavyweight suffering from health complications, Perry stepped up to take on Paul instead. Early in the first round, Paul dropped Perry with a clean right hand, but Perry quickly got back up, determined to press forward. The social media star turned boxer however maintained his composure with ‘Platinum’ constantly pressing forward and absorbing shots.

That was mainly the story of the fight as Paul kept landing heavy shots with Perry offering some of his own responses, but the heavier blows were visibly coming from Paul. The end came in round 6 when Paul landed a devastating combination that sent Perry to the canvas. Perry got up but was visibly shaken, stumbling as he tried to regain his footing. The referee, seeing Perry’s condition, wisely called a stop to the bout.

The performance incensed Conor McGregor so much that he posted on X, “Hey Mike youre released and you can go and compete in your smelly dirty boxing championship thing, the smell of it, good luck. You’re fired”.  The organization in question is Perry’s latest venture, ‘Dirty Boxing Championship’, launched by ‘Platinum’s team alongside other notable names like former ‘Karate Combat’ executive Adam Kovacs and ‘Kanpai Media’s Josh McLean

This might come as a shock to many, or maybe not, given McGregor’s history of throwing shots, as only weeks back it seemed like he was rooting for the BKFC champion. At the BKFC Spain press conference, McGregor stated, “One of our big stars, ‘The King of Violence’ he titles himself. You know, he’s had such a rise in the sport and now he’s up against a little dweeb of a thing in a fight this weekend. We’re all rooting for him! This [man] is the real deal.”

But Mike Perry isn’t one to hold back as well, as moments after, the ex-UFC fighter clapped back, while making a revelation of his own. “He doesn’t f**king have a promotion coz me and him are both owners of BKFC so he can’t fire me,” said Perry. And that was not all, as Perry further issued a challenge for McGregor, “You know, I lost to Jake Paul, why don’t you go fight Jake Paul in boxing with the gloves on? I think it’ll be worse than Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather.” For anybody who needs a refresher on McGregor’s last outing in a boxing ring, on August 26, 2017, deemed ‘The Money Fight,’ ended with a TKO in the 10th round.

Have an interesting take?

It might also be interesting to note that this animosity was not always the case for the two ex-UFC roster associates. When McGregor announced his stake at BKFC, and voiced his desire to even compete, the “The King of Violence” was certainly up for it. After expressing his admiration for the double champ, Perry stated, “I haven’t fought longer than f*cking four minutes in like three years. I’m out here hurting people or they quit. I break their hearts. Conor’s always got heart. Even when we’ve seen him down, he’s still to be heard. They took him out on a stretcher [after breaking his leg] and he was still telling people how he felt. But I’ll beat anybody in the world, period.”

But it wasn’t just Mike Perry who found himself in ‘The Notorious’s crosshairs!

In a scathing post made on X, Conor McGregor didn’t hold back on Jake Paul even after he won against Mike Perry! But why was the Irishman mad at Paul? In a post made on X, McGregor stated, “Jake Paul is the biggest p**bag I have ever seen in my life. 40-pound weight difference, juiced out of his head, and still sh***ing himself in there.”

The Irishman didn’t stop there as he went to level allegations of PED usage against Jake Paul claiming, “Nakisa you should take him to Vegas oh that’s right you could never, the athletic commission testing, real testing, real fighting.” McGregor isn’t the first to make the allegations against Paul as before the fight, Mike Perry had stated on the ‘Overdogs’ podcast, “He’s got to be hot if he went from 210 and if he really did go to 230, he had to use something, he had to do something to get there.”

And Jake Paul is not one to stray away from an explosive response! Paul poked fun at McGregor’s earlier support for Perry- “Hey, that’s f**ked up that you fired your BKFC champion, but I told you that was going to happen. You know, I told you exactly what was going to happen and he was big upping his boy Mike Perry.,” but not before issuing his own challenge.

It seems like McGregor’s absence from action has not gone unnoticed, as Paul added, “So, I said ‘Ok Conor, after I f**k up Mike Perry then you’re next!’. So Conor’s on Twitter all the time, Conor’s on his yacht all the time, but guess where he’s not? In the ring, fighting me. So he can talk all the sh*t he wants, but the Notorious MMA is scared of Jake Joseph Paul from Disney channel.”

As the dust settles, the combat sports community will be watching closely to see how these developments unfold and what they mean for the future careers of both Mike Perry and Jake Paul.
