After the second fight between Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn in 1993, fans couldn’t help but feel that they still had unfinished business. After all, the split draw perfectly encapsulated how close their fight had been. Their rivalry, which started three years prior, was one of the best boxing has seen. After all, both men were a study in contrast.

Benn, the trash-talking, rough-and-tumble brawler was a veritable knockout artist. On the other hand, the monocle-wearing, aristocratic Eubank Sr. was a proper English gentleman, right out of a PG Wodehouse novel, was a great technical boxer with a solid defense and a knack for flamboyance in the ring.

Thankfully, their rivalry has been rekindled as their sons, Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn, are set to face each other in a long-awaited clash this April. And the combat sports world, of course, is joyous. Including UFC superstar Conor McGregor, who is also seemingly looking forward to the prodigies settling their ancestral feud.

“INCREDIBLE!” McGregor tweeted in all caps replying to a post about the fight. Of course, Benn and Eubank Jr. were originally set to clash in 2022, but Benn tested positive for a banned substance the week of the fight and was suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control.

In November 2024, however, Conor Benn’s legal team got the suspension lifted, clearing the way for the long-awaited clash with Eubank Jr. But their April 2025 clash will be the first of their two fights since the fight contract reportedly has a clause for a rematch by December which both men have agreed to. On the other hand, the Irishman is also set to enter the ring this year, but for a clash that most fight fans think they could do without.

Conor McGregor’s decision to box Logan Paul is very unpopular in the fighting world

What’s your perspective on:

Is Conor McGregor's fight with Logan Paul a smart move or a desperate cash grab?

Have an interesting take?

Conor McGregor, too, is entering the ring sometime this year, but for a much less interesting clash than Eubank Jr.-Benn. In fact, many would say that literally, no one asked for that fight. After all, the Irishman will fight Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition, instead of making his long-awaited comeback to the Octagon.

Most see this exhibition as a money grab by ‘Mystic Mac’ and feel this augurs poorly for the Irishman’s UFC future. After all, the former two-division champ hasn’t fought for the past four years, and even when he was active, has won only one of his last four fights. A sharp contrast to the nigh unbeatable McGregor who had entranced the combat sports world during his come-up.

Fans feel that McGregor just doesn’t have it in him anymore to live cleanly for a full camp and then get in the Octagon and get punched in the face by some of the best mixed martial artists in the world. Why would he? Fighting a WWE star in a boxing exhibition and getting paid more than he would make in the UFC is much much easier. What do you think about Conor McGregor’s reaction to the upcoming Eubank Jr.-Benn clash?
