Is Conor McGregor's career in chaos, or is this just another strategic move by the UFC star?

As the MMA world eagerly awaits Conor McGregor‘s comeback, the chaos only grows over who should be the next opponent for the Irishman. Michael Chandler has abandoned his potential matchup with ‘Notorious’ by agreeing to fight Charles Oliveira at UFC 309. So, it appears that his former opponent Nate Diaz has come forward to the rescue. The trilogy fight has been on everyone’s mind, especially since both fighters are tied at 1-1.

Nate Diaz’s last victory against his former opponent, Jorge Masvidal appears to have increased his morale to such a level that he not only challenged Conor McGregor but also challenged the BWAA P4P best boxer on the face of the planet, Terence Crawford for a match. The Stockton, California, United States challenged Terrance Crawford after the boxing champ politely declined Conor McGregor for a fight.

Nate Diaz took to his X handle to share a photo of himself being shredded and captioned it, “I Box Crawford and fight conor next- 168 lfg.” His statement is yet to receive a response from either of the fighters but it;s kind of sure that Conor McGregor might agree to it.

But fighting Diaz almost definitely will be a straight no from Crawford, as it has been for Conor McGregor. Or has it been a straight no from Crawford over fighting McGregor? It was initially, but the boxer’s refusal seems to be thawing.

Terence Crawford now ‘tempted’ by $200 million Conor McGregor offer

What’s your perspective on:

Is Conor McGregor's career in chaos, or is this just another strategic move by the UFC star?

Have an interesting take?

Terence Crawford, of course, turned down a two-fight deal with ‘Mac’, one in the ring and one in the octagon because “Kicks and elbows man that s*** ain’t no joke.” After all, the American is in his prime and en route to breaching the stratosphere of superstardom. ‘Bud’ is set to fight for the WBO super welterweight title against Sebastian Fundora, and has been calling out megastar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for a fight. That fight, of course, would be second only to the Fury-Usyk undisputed heavyweight clash at the moment and would probably be the biggest fight in both men’s careers.

And this is why the boxing maestro doesn’t relish the prospect of getting his legs kicked or eating sharp elbows from a sublime striker like McGregor in MMA. But the multiple-division champion seems to be mulling taking a U-turn and agreeing to fight ‘Mac’ after all. Replying to a post by McGregor where the Irishman paid his respect to ‘Bud’ for turning down a $200 million paycheck, Crawford wrote: “@thenotoriousmma tempted.”

Of course, boxing McGregor will likely be a cakewalk for Crawford. There will be no fears of a repeat of the Ngannou-Fury fiasco since ‘Mac’ for all his knockouts, doesn’t have the kind of earth-shattering power to knockdown Crawford with the heavier, more cushioned boxing gloves. In MMA, however, it would be a different story entirely.

While Crawford does have some wrestling, the prospect of facing McGregor and his spinning elbows, leg kicks, head kicks, and nascent BJJ will be no joke. For the moment, the ball, as they say, is in Crawford’s court and the money is life-changing. What do you think Crawford should do? Let us know in the comments section below.
