Not too long ago, Conor McGregor sent ripples across the mixed martial arts scene after buying a part of the fight promotion, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. The head of BKFC, David Feldman, revealed that ‘The Notorious’ had indeed bought a significant part of the company and owned noteworthy amounts of equity. Months after acquiring his stake in BKFC, McGregor stirred things up as the former UFC contender, Yoel Romero, hints at his plans with the fight promotion.

Previously, the BKFC president admitted that the company was interested in bringing in Romero. Feldman’s words became public right after the ‘Soldier Of God’ took his leave from the Ultimate Fighting Championship, back in 2020. Finally, things seem to be moving as per Feldman’s plans, even though it took about four years for Romero to finally hint at it.

Recently, Romero appeared in an interview with William Rodiles on the set of ‘Overdogs Espanol’ podcast. Therein, the duo stumbled upon the topic of BKFC, which inspired the interviewer to ask the mixed martial artist whether he would fight in the bare-knuckle boxing promotion.

Surprisingly, ‘Soldier Of God’ didn’t deny it at all. The former freestyle wrestler revealed that the only thing he hadn’t done yet was to box inside the squared ring. He confirmed that there were some talks about him going to fight at BKFC and it might materialize in a matter of months.

With an MMA record of 13 wins and 5 losses, Romero said, “Hey are you working undercover? We are cooking something. You all know that came from a boxing family and one thing I still have to do in life is fighting in a ring. But this time only punches. We are cooking something, and something soon. We are not talking about a year. Nothing about that. We are talking about months.”

But it’s not just Yoel Romero who is rumored to enter the arena and fight with bare knuckles. A couple of months ago, ‘The Notorious’, after becoming a part-owner of BKFC, targeted Justin Gaethje for a fight in the promotion. Let’s see what the Irish mixed martial artist had to say.

Conor McGregor wanted a BKFC fight with Justin Gaethje

In an interview back in May 2024, the ‘Mystic Mac’ opened up about his thoughts on BKFC. He claimed that it was indeed a place where UFC veterans end up after their career at the MMA promotion comes to an end. Without a doubt, the Irishman simply didn’t want a chance to fight with his knuckles bared slide away. And he had Gaethje in the crosshairs.

McGregor opined, “Now let’s take Justin Gaethje, who’s a UFC veteran, former BMF holder… Take him, let’s put him in bare-knuckle. That’s exciting, that is really really exciting.” But talking about him fighting in any other MMA promotion just didn’t sit well with the Irish mixed martial artist. Nevertheless, McGregor seemed content with the fact that it aligned well with the UFC. He said, “It’s different, it actually blends well with the UFC, which I’m very very happy about.” But with Romero planning to enter BKFC, things might just get exciting, don’t you think?

Who do you think would Romero land against when he finally steps into the squared ring with his knuckles bared? Do you think he would fare well in the promotion? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
