Did you know that Ryan Garcia was shadowboxing in Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida? Soon after Garcia knocked down Devin Haney thrice and won in the high-stakes match last weekend, he went to do some campaigning for the former US President who is gearing up for the elections this year. During his visit to Trump’s residence, ‘King Ry’ was spotted displaying his fast hands and also throwing a few uppercuts in the air. However, Trump was not the only one who got a few boxing lessons that day.

Despite getting criticism for his poor footwork by a former three-weight world champion, ‘King Ry’ was spotted teaching Colby Covington some of his secret moves. In a clip that is now going viral on social media, we can see how Garcia tried to teach the UFC fighter his signature left hook – the one that dropped Haney three times last week.

The 25-year-old demonstrated how he could land that hook to the body or the head by keeping his opponent guessing. If the opponent opened his guard to see the shot, then it could be a left uppercut. King Ry’ uploaded the 41-second video of him teaching ‘Chaos’ about boxing on his X handle, but later deleted it. Garcia captioned the deleted tweet with “Always good doing charity work Hahahab Jk Colby pretty fire night keep punching.” However, Garcia who put on the coach’s hat now, had received some constructive feedback for himself earlier this month.

Just before Ryan Garcia faced Haney in the most anticipated matchup in recent times, Shane Mosley provided some crucial advice to ‘King Ry.’ When Garcia had put up a training video on social media, many criticized him for his poor footwork, but Mosley was kind enough and reached out to him on his DM and said, “I’m going to tell you before it’s too late. This fight is going to come down to how good your footwork is. That doesn’t mean moving away from him. It means being explosive front and back, side to side to land your power punches.”

The three-weight world champion advised Garcia not to follow the opponent in the ring, but to be in the middle and allow the opponent to pursue him. Mosley further added, “You are quicker than him (Haney), but his feet might be a little quicker. Work on that fast twitch muscle you will be happy.” And looks like ‘King Ry’ followed that perfectly and knocked down Haney thrice and took home close to $12 million after betting $2 million on himself.

On the other hand, Colby Covington is riding a one-fight losing streak and has lost every title fight he has been in. The UFC might schedule his next fight soon, and Ian Garry, who called out Colby Covington for a fight on the UFC 303 card, is likely to be his opponent. However, they have not made a decision yet. The Irish striking sensation has accused Garry of dodging him. Amidst all this UFC hubbub, the interaction between Ryan Garcia and Colby Covington has fans reminding Covington about some past misfortunes.

Fans have a field day on Ryan Garcia’s meeting with Colby Covington

The uncanny interaction between the fighters was interesting, as people never expected Ryan Garcia to meet Colby Covington randomly and teach him boxing. A fan questioned Garcia’s relevance to Colby Covington. This one was a clear indicative of the boxing vs. MMA debate where many argue MMA is a more complete and near-accurate representation of unarmed combat. The comment said, “Who tf does Ryan think he is teaching Colby Covington how to fight?”

Meanwhile, another fan thought Covington was just entertaining Garcia and said, “Colby acting like he never seen a left hook before.” Along similar lines, another wrote, “Colby actin’ like it’s his first time learning the fundamentals of fighting.”

The last time Covington had this kind of interaction with another fighter, it went brutal and Covington had to call the cops to calm the situation. Well, it was against Jorge Masvidal and one fan made sure to remind him of it. “Colby called the cops and ryan ended up going to jail for the night for this.” A similar comment reminded them of his altercation with ‘Gamebred’ where he ended up with a chipped tooth. “Colby getting flashbacks of the masvidal night.” Another just saw the absurdity in all this and commented, “This duo would be hilarious.”

The interaction between Garcia and Covington seemed to have caught many by surprise. Do you think we will see Colby firing some left hooks in the next fight? State your thoughts in the comments below.
