We are inching closer to the first-ever boxing match of Francis Ngannou against WBC champion Tyson Fury. ‘The Predator’ has been actively training for the fight with boxing icon Mike Tyson, as he gears up for the fight on October 28. Meanwhile, Ngannou recently revealed who’ll be in his corner for the boxing match.

The UFC was not confident in Francis Ngannou’s ability to land a boxing match against Tyson Fury. However, he did that and even secured the services of Mike Tyson as his coach for the fight. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, the French-Cameroonian opened up on how the collaboration with ‘Iron’ came about.

Francis Ngannou mentioned that he had established a relationship with Mike Tyson a few years back in 2019. Furthermore, it was at that time that he asked the former boxing world champion to be in his corner should he get the chance to fight Tyson Fury. And without much hesitation, ‘Iron’ accepted the offer.

“The relationship with Mike Tyson has been around for four years now. Since the first time that I met him four years ago, I think it was July 2019, and from that very first time, I made the request for him to be in my corner if I ever and whenever I fight Tyson Fury and he accepted,” said Ngannou.

Since the first time he made the request to Mike Tyson, Francis Ngannou has been in contact with him. He also made an appearance on his podcast, ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’. They then caught up with each other a few more times but never discussed anything about the fight. That was until four months ago when Tyson Fury confirmed his boxing match against Ngannou.

“Then we stay in touch. I have been on his podcast a couple of times after that and then we stay in touch. We get in the couple occasions, we have to meet and talk but never about this fight until he became real four months ago, and I made a call,” said Francis Ngannou. ‘The Predator’ also opened up about who will corner him for the fight against Fury.
