UFC CEO Dana White has always been a fan of the fighting sport. However, he did share his honest opinion about the commentators from the past, especially about boxing. On most occasions, commentators help or make any event. But according to the 54-year-old, there were few commentators who disrespected the fighters, especially Larry Merchant. On FOX NEWS, host Kilmeade asked the UFC CEO about his honest opinion about the problems he had regarding production.
White, who is known for his harsh words, was quick to respond and said, “All those guys were terrible. They were terrible.” He further pointed out what kind of problems he faced during the process. He said, “At that time, HBO boxing was the gold standard of sport. But nothing had really changed except HD. They put money on it but I would have to mute the commentators all the time.”
“I don’t buy this event to listen to you idiots. Who think you know all about boxing, you know. You, Larry Merchant jumping up and telling Floyd Mayweather that if he was 30 years younger, he would kick his a… No, you wouldn’t. The disrespect to say that. They were clowns to me,” the 54-year-old concluded.
White had always been critical of HBO and their production. During one past interview, he shared why the UFC’s production was much better than their counterparts.

Dana White is super proud of his production team and feels it’s the best
Dana White is super proud of its production team and its quality. White has always been a critic of HBO Boxing and its production. However, he took notes of the problem faced by the viewers and thought about what could have been done differently by HBO and Showtime. The 54-year-old has now learnt his lesson from his experience and is using them to help the UFC grow.
A few weeks back, White joined Randall Kaplan on his podcast and shared why the UFC was way ahead from their competitors. One of the promotions’ biggest asset is their ability to try new things consistently. White seemed super proud of his team and said, “That’s what we do with the live event production, you know. If you’re at home or if you’re in bars, every one of them is a different experience… The other thing you’re asking about, production. The other thing that we do is there’s always new technology that comes out in production.”
