Chael Sonnen Makes Shocking Boxing Pick Between Arch-Rival Jon Jones & Tyson Fury

Chael Sonnen is a highly opinionated individual, that goes without saying. He always has a very analytical approach toward the topics he speaks about and tends to make calculated statements. However, the UFC veteran is using a rather impulsive approach when talking about his former rival Jon Jones competing against the world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.

Sonnen suggested betting on ‘Jonny Bones’ in a boxing match against the ‘Gypsy King’. Now that is one bold statement to make, even for Sonnen.

Given the enormous potential ‘Bones’ possesses, Chael Sonnen indicated in one of his most recent YouTube videos that he would wager on Jon Jones in any combat situation.

Chael Sonnen has his money on Jon Jones

The UFC veteran addressed Anthony Smith’s comments against Jon Jones and was quick to offer a further breakdown on the subject. Smith claimed that Jones was ‘not that good’ and Sonnen joined the conversation with a different perspective, backing up his former rival.

The 45-year-old stated that he would bet his money on Jones in ‘anything’ he does. “I would bet on Jon Jones in anything. I might lose my money…, but I would bet on Jon Jones in anything,” said Sonnen.

Sonnen further added, he would bet on his arch-rival even if he fought Tyson Fury in a boxing match. “If Jon Jones is going to go over to heavyweight boxing and take on Tyson Fury, I’m gonna bet on Jon Jones.”

Chael Sonnen also mentioned how Jones defeated a two-time Olympian, Dan Henderson in a wrestling match to further bolster his point. The 45-year-old stated, he favors Jones with anything combat related. “When it comes to combat, whether I like him or not… I get Anthony’s point I know what he is saying.”

“Me telling you Jon can beat up Tyson Fury in boxing, I better be prepared to lose my money… But I’m telling you now, if Jon Jones is doing it and it’s combat, I’m taking Jon,” said Sonnen.

Chael Sonnen discusses Curtis Blaydes fighting Jon Jones

It is not yet known who ‘Jonny Bones’ will face next when he makes his anticipated comeback in 2023. Francis Ngannou is injured and Stipe Miocic is undecided, so the UFC had to find a replacement.

Curtis Blaydes is one of the front-runners to face Jones in his comeback bout. And Chael Sonnen had some points to make about this match-up.

In his video on Curtis Blaydes, Sonnen shared his thoughts on Jones‘ wresting skills and his chances of winning against Blaydes. “Jon takes a guy down one time. When that guy gets up, whether that round ended or he scrambled to his feet, that person is now different. Can Jon take Curtis Blaydes down?”

He further added, “Jon Jones is older and Jon Jones has been on the sideline for three years. It’s a little favor to Curtis Blaydes.” Sonnen concluded by saying that Jones vs Blaydes can turn out to be a big deal.
