Jake Paul makes a truckload of cash. Much more than the majority of boxing champions. Let alone UFC fighters, who don’t make nearly enough money as their heavy-gloved cousins. For instance, ‘The Problem Child’ reportedly made a whopping $40 million to fight a 58-year-old Mike Tyson in a farce of a boxing match last year. Meanwhile, the highest check Jon Jones, the consensus MMA GOAT, has made hovers between $5-7 million.

Paul was rightfully dragged through the mud by fans and fighters alike since he has essentially monetized his trolling abilities to make it a career of beating up on hand-picked opponents. This is why rising UFC welterweight Adam Fugitt is so upset with Paul. Speaking to our very own Andrew Whitelaw in an ES Exclusive interview, the 170lbs star said that he, like almost every other fighter in the world, “wants to beat up… Jake Paul.”

While Fugitt had some appreciation for everything Paul had managed to build, he couldn’t help but detest him. Why? We’ll let Fugitt explain. Get out of here man, I don’t know, maybe I gotta give this guy some flowers someday. But I ain’t giving him his flowers today, you know. I just, I can’t do it, man. Like he’s entertainment, you know, and I’m not taking anything away from the WWE wrestlers. It may be scripted but they put their bodies through, you know, a ton… But that’s what I feel like Jake Paul is- he’s a little bit of a script, you know,” he said.

This accusation is not a new one. Many in the fight world feel that ‘The Problem Child’ not only picks the easiest opponents but also has prior understandings with them about how the fight would go. To be fair, there has been no evidence at all so far that Paul’s fights are scripted. But that was just the first problem Fugitt had with Paul. The second was much more egregious and heart-breaking, at least from a fighter’s point of view. Let’s see what it is!

Professional fighters, regardless of their competing discipline, dedicate the best years of their lives to the sport. But very few make it to the highest level, fewer still become stars, and even fewer still ever become champions. Most pro fighters count themselves extremely lucky if they ever make one paycheck in the high seven or low eight figures.

On the other hand, Jake Paul is able to make tens of millions with virtually none of the hard work or the grinding that others have to go through. And that is what Adam Fugitt dislikes about Paul’s success. “And it’s [Paul’s fights are] gonna go a certain way and I don’t think he puts his body through as much as, anywhere close to what those WWE guys do. So if anybody should be mad, it should be us athletes and the WWE guys,” Fugitt told Whitelaw in their ES Exclusive interview.

On the other hand, the only reason Paul makes so much money is because people buy his fights. ‘The Problem Child’ is a master marketer and was able to leverage his social media fame into a very lucrative celebrity boxing career. That is why Fugitt thinks the responsibility of ‘stopping’ Paul falls on the fans’ shoulders.

And what it comes down to is Jake Paul will be rich and famous as long as people will continue to watch Jake Paul. So, you know, stop buying those pay-per-views, stop paying any kind of attention to that man because I don’t believe he deserves what he gets,” he added. What do you think about Adam Fuggit’s take on Jake Paul?
