Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for their clash set for Saturday. Both the fighters were busy in their interviews when their entourage met each other. Fury’s father, John Fury was also there. However, things heated up when Usyk’s team members started chanting his name in order to assert dominance.

What followed was an enraged John Fury barging in between Usyk’s entourage and headbutting Stepchuk. As soon as this event unfolded, the security got involved and separated both the teams. The young Russian got a small injury on his head, but this was not the case for the 59-year-old father of the WBC world champion. He seemed to have suffered a concussion, and was left bleeding after the headbutt.

This nonchalant behavior by John Fury caught the attention of the former dual weight champion, Conor McGregor who shared the incident on his Instagram handle and added a single laughing emoji as a caption.

Interestingly, Tyson Fury was not there when the event unfolded. He was giving an interview to the media and when he got the news he just laughed it off and added, “They do what they do. I’ve definitely seen worse than a cut on the head.” Nonetheless, no charges have been made against Fury Sr but team Usyk is demanding an apology.

Team Oleksandr Usyk wants a public apology

According to the Kingdom officials, no charges have been framed by the fighters against each other, and the situation is controlled now. The footage suggests that before the headbutt there was a verbal confrontation between Fury Sr and Stanislav Stepchuk and suddenly John Fury attacked the young Ukranian. Team Usyk initially thought that Stepchuk was at fault but after a close inspection of the footage they understood that it was Fury Sr. who started it and now they want an apology.

While having a conversation with the media, Usyk’s manager Alexander Krassyuk said Fury Sr. should apologize.“I had the impression that one of our guys made the headbutt and hit him with the forehead. Then I saw the video and it turned out to be a little bit different from my first impression. It would be nice if we heard some apologies from John because this was his behavior. We are the example for the whole world, a new generation of kids is taking us as an example. What will they see from this?”

Krassyuk wants an apology while on the other hand, Fury Sr seems to be not in the mood to take back what he did. “They were disrespecting my son, the best-ever heavyweight to wear a pair of boxing gloves. Coming out with all that rubbish, in my face, trying to be clever,” said John Fury. Nonetheless, who is a better boxer will be decided on Saturday. What’s your take on the entire situation?
