Dmitry Bivol finally avenged his October 2024 loss by defeating Artur Beterbiev via a majority decision in Saudi Arabia. After losing a razor-thin decision in their first fight, Bivol adopted a new strategy: stand his ground instead of constantly moving. The plan paid off, as he dominated the early rounds with quick jabs and clean combinations, preventing Beterbiev from unleashing his signature power strikes. With scores of 116-112, 115-113, and 114-114, Bivol indicated that he had learned from his mistakes and achieved his career high.
Such was the fight, that it drew attention from the entire combat sports world, including controversial internet star, Andrew Tate. Tate turned to social media to upload a photo of himself watching the fight, captioned “Two legends.” Well, we cannot disagree after all. It was a fierce fight that wasn’t a single-man domination for Bivol. Beterbiev pushed forward fiercely and attacked Dmitry Bivol’s torso during the middle rounds.
The 40-year-old’s power was on full display, especially in the fifth round, when he stunned Dmitry Bivol with a devastating right hand. However, Bivol, noted for his calm demeanor, regrouped and counterpunched cleanly in the following rounds. Dmitry Bivol’s superior conditioning made the difference in the final stretch. He grabbed control in the eighth round with a crisp left hook that forced Artur Beterbiev to reset, and he then commanded the fight’s tempo.
