Callum Walsh still remains the WBC Continental Americas super welterweight champion by successfully defending his title against Przemyslaw Runowski. The Irishman defended his belt in his home country and knocked his opponent out with a pretty impressive left hook in the second round. Needless to say, this left Dana White in a haze.
Before we proceed further, did you know that the UFC CEO has invested himself and is “all in” to make landfall in the realm of boxing? Well, that’s exactly what he has claimed. With a commitment to enter the squared arenas, White didn’t fail to celebrate Walsh’s phenomenal victory.

About a day before the showdown between Walsh and Runowski, White declared that the UFC would soon land in the world of boxing. Teasing a big announcement, the UFC head honcho said, “If you know anything about me and you go back and look at anything that I’ve ever said, I never say anything that I don’t do – ever. I’ve never said (something I don’t do), and we’ve been kicking the whole boxing thing around for a long time. You’ve never heard me commit and say ‘I’m in.’ I’m in.”
No doubt, the 55-year-old proved how invested he was by announcing the fight between Walsh and Runowski and flying to Dublin to watch the fight unfold in 3Arena. Left impressed with the kind of performance ‘The King’ displayed in the ring, Dana White took to Instagram and shared a picture of Walsh walking away from a fallen Runowski in his IG story. He captioned the story, “Congrats @kingcallumwalsh. Thank You #ireland.”
White indeed saw victory when he laid his eyes on the undefeated Irish professional boxer. Since the past few years, the UFC CEO has showered the WBC welterweight champion with spots on UFC Fight Pass following their chance meet-up in Las Vegas. He has often praised the boxer for his skills. And now, as he supposedly prepares to make landfall in the squared rings, White sent forth a few words of appreciation to Walsh, as well as his homeland.

Why does the UFC CEO favor Callum Walsh?
Not too long ago, the fighting community pointed out that the UFC head honcho was partial to the Irish professional boxer. However, in an interview with the renowned sports journalist Manouk Akopyan, Walsh revealed that it was nothing more than business. He claimed that the relationship between him and White was as professional as it could be.
‘The King’ replied, “I don’t pick and choose opponents. That’s why Dana is pushing me because he knows I’m bringing this UFC mindset. I want to make these big fights happen and obviously, with Dana White helping and with a promoter like Tom Loeffler, I think we are going to change boxing a lot. I’m going to make these big fights happen.”

Walsh thus boasted a mentality like that of a UFC fighter, aligning himself with the concept of the best fighting the best. And White appreciates such moves. Accepting to fight anyone who deems themselves worthy and making sure the arena goes houseful was exactly what the UFC CEO wanted. As per some claims, White seems to look at Walsh the way he did with Conor McGregor.
Do you think ‘The King’ will be able to bring more fortune to the UFC? Will White lift the MMA promotion even higher with a venture into the boxing world? What are your thoughts on the cage side message he had for the WBC champ? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
