Francis Ngannou has gained a lot and lost a lot more. ‘The Predator’ made a huge name for himself in the UFC world. The native of Cameroon, who grew up in poverty and worked in the sand mines of Cameroon, has had a hard journey. It has been harder because of his son’s demise as well. He had announced the tragic passing of his 15-month-old son in April. However, the strong and determined fighter is returning to fight against Renan ‘Problema’ Ferreira on October 19, as per reports.
His last fight in the UFC was two years ago and the 37-year-old has switched to boxing and now PFL since then. He had a contract dispute with the promotion due to which his last fight was against Cyril Gane in UFC, which he won via decision. After that, he took a break from MMA and decided to switch to boxing. However, it wasn’t an easy journey for the fighter, as he lost both his boxing bouts so far.
His last devastating loss in professional boxing against Anthony Joshua in Riyadh came as a huge blow to the fans and him as well. It was a frightening KO and Ngannou was almost unconscious in the ring. Following an impressive performance in a losing case against Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou was deemed the favorite to win against Joshua. However, it didn’t take much time for the veteran to showcase why he was the best, as he handed a second-round knockout to Francis Ngannou in the heavyweight clash.

Following the defeat, Ngannou took to social media to share a message with his fans that read, “Sorry guys I let you all down. Today was a bad day in the office, but tomorrow will be another day. Thank you all for the love.” The heavyweight star is ready to make a comeback to the world of Mixed Martial Arts with the PFL.
He entered the contract with the promotion last year and is finally gearing up for his first fight against Renan ‘Problema’ Ferreira who has a dangerous KO game. As compared to the UFC, PFL is offering the veteran better money along with an opportunity to pursue his boxing endeavors. While the Cameroonian-French mixed martial artist is ready to leave an impact, the fans seem skeptical of his upcoming clash as they reacted to an Instagram post by MMA Junkie read, “Francis Ngannou is back in MMA! The former UFC champ makes his PFL debut vs. Renan Ferreira.”

Notably, it is an important clash for the fighter, as the bout will commemorate his son rather than a personal achievement. Ngannou told Sky Sports, “This is not a great moment for me. I need some activities. I need to stay active to be in a zone I belong to. I also need to keep it going, to fight for my boy, for Kobe.” However, the fans did not seem too excited about this decision because of his previous losses, so let’s see what they had to say.

One fan pointed out, “This is not an easy fight for N,” while another commented, “Francis is getting smoked in rd 1.” ‘The Predator’ has been inactive in the MMA world for two years after fighting against Cyril Gane at UFC 270 in January 2022. After that, he joined boxing where he fought Tyson Fury but lost the match. Following that, he lost to Anthony Joshua via a dangerous KO. This has made fans apprehensive about his comeback because they do not expect him to win.
Even though he has not competed for two years in MMA, he did not retire from the sport. While away from MMA, Ngannou decided to box and signed into PFL and played a small role in Zack Snyder’s sci-fi epic called Rebel Moon. On the other hand, his opponent has been active and last fought Ryan Bader, and won the fight. This might be one of the reasons that the fans think that Ngannou is not going to win this fight.
On the same note, another fan said, “Why is he still fighting,” while a follower pointed out, “Tough fight for Ngannou tbh.” Social media users are also more apprehensive because Ferreira has a record of 13-3-0 with 11 wins by way of knockout during his career. It should be noted that Ngannou has lost bouts through knockouts.

Fearing this, one follower wrote, “I mean, it’s been 4 years since Francis has fought MMA, and he’s almost 40 now, he might get slept in the first round of this one.” It seems like the fighter is doing this mostly for his son and to commemorate his son’s memory. He said, “But I want to do something good in his memory. Not to be the reason for me to quit, but to be motivation and also to fight for him.”
However, the fans do not expect him to win. One fan said, “Sadly Francis will get chinned,” while another chimed in, “Francis is going to sleep.” Do you think Ngannou will win this fight? Tell us your predictions in the comments below.
