Former UFC middleweight kingpin, Anderson Silva is set to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. this weekend in a boxing match. Silva, now 46-years-old, is confident ahead of the much-anticipated contest. He made weight successfully for the fight which is set to take place at a 182 lbs weight.

Silva’s opponent, Chavez Jr. missed weight as the former WBC champion weighed in on 184.4 lbs. He will forfeit $100,000 of his purse the ‘The Spider’ in the process. Many believe this might be a mismatch as Silva has very limited experience of competing in the sport of boxing beforehand. Chavez Jr., on the other hand, is a former world champion of the sport.

Well guys, I’ve been a combat sports professional for over 20 years. I’ve always accomplished my duties inside and outside of the ring. The contractual weight for tomorrow’s fight is 182lbs, which I accomplished through months of hard work alongside my team. Unfortunately my opponent came in at 184.4lbs. Despite this, I will still put on a great show for you all,” wrote Silva in a recent Instagram release.
