In a recent Twitter post, ‘The Immortal’ praised Inoue’s performance against Stephen Fulton. He was impressed by the way he won that fight. Matt Brown said, “Broooo Inoue… Holy sh*t this dude is so good.” Furthermore, he mentioned how the Japanese boxer went into the fight against the former champion as an underdog.

However, that didn’t seem to matter much as Naoya Inoue battered Fulton and scored a knockout win. Brown added, “An absolute masterpiece against a guy that was supposed to derail him. Inoue is the truuuth!” The UFC welterweight is convinced that Inoue has a lot more to offer in his future bouts. But what took place in the boxing match that made Brown a Naoya Inoue fan?

Stephen Fulton suffered an 8th-round KO defeat

Naoya Inoue showcased his dominance since stepping foot inside the squared circle as a light flyweight. He was not the favorite in this fight against Fulton. However, ‘The Monster’ took charge of his fight and forced a result that not many people saw coming. Stepping into the ring for his first appearance at super-bantamweight, Fulton Inoue took on the established champion in the division without a preliminary match.

The match started off with Fulton, throwing some jabs at the Japanese boxer. In return, Inoue showed his jabbing skills and grew confident with each strike. Moreover, his confidence led him to build some impressive combinations on to those shots. The moment of truth came in the eighth round after Inoue dropped Fulton with a straight right followed by a left hook. The former champion stood up, but got dropped again after a flurry of strikes from ‘The Monster’. Alas, Inoue became the new WBC and WBO junior featherweight champion.
