Neither UFC nor BKFC, but ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor’s next fight could take place in India. Still, in the midst of a major lawsuit, the former 145- and 155-pound champion revealed that he is negotiating to face Logan Paul in an exhibition boxing bout. McGregor, who was set to return to the UFC in 2024, has not competed in boxing since his high-profile loss to Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.
Paul, now a part-time wrestler in WWE, also faced Floyd Mayweather, only in an exhibition bout that took place in 2022. But who is this Ambani family that is bringing the two together? Are they rich enough to set up the fight between the two iconic characters in India? Well, let’s dig in to find out more about the Ambanis, who might just about usher in a new era of combat sports in the Indian subcontinent.

The name of Mukesh Ambani is not known to most Americans, but it is one that many living in Asia are definitely familiar with. The younger son of industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani, he also has a brother named Anil Ambani; however, it is Mukesh who took the family’s wealth to an extent beyond the realm of imagination. He graduated from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai, India, with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and was then accepted to Stanford University to pursue an MBA. However, he dropped out to help his father’s yarn manufacturing project. In 2004, Mukesh Ambani set up Reliance Infocomm Limited, which later became Reliance Communications Limited.
Today, Reliance Industries is headquartered in the city of Mumbai as a conglomerate of companies. Its chairman, CEO, and main shareholder is Mukesh Ambani, considered to be the richest person in India, the richest in Asia, and the 17th richest in the world (according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index). Reliance Industries Limited companies are distributed throughout India, covering all kinds of sectors, from energy production and petrochemicals to telecommunications, textiles, and natural resources. It is considered the most profitable company in India and one of the largest corporations in the world.
Mukesh and his family have amassed unimaginable wealth since then, while Anil has been plagued by mounting debts. As a result of signing big deals with Facebook and Google, Mukesh’s fortune skyrocketed, propelling him to be among the top twenty richest people in the world. His net worth is currently estimated at $80.4 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. In addition, Ambani has had a $2 million salary cap since 2008. Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia Building, which is located on Altamount Road in South Mumbai, is estimated to be the second most expensive property in the world after Buckingham Palace. It is also said that the high-end, high-rise mansion costs around $1-2 billion dollars.
Conor McGregor reveals boxing fight plans against Logan Paul
While many are talking about a mega-fight between Conor McGregor and the new UFC star, Ilia Topuria, the Irishman does not have plans to face the Spaniard. In fact, just a month after the record-breaking fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, there are now rumors about a potential exhibition between Logan Paul and Conor McGregor instead. The former UFC double champion said Tuesday in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that he is in preliminary agreements to fight Paul in India.
He wrote, “The rumors of a bout with [Topuria] are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.” This revelation is undoubtedly a hard blow for the Dana White-led promotion. This is especially true since the promotion has been vying to make its biggest fight yet, with the return of ‘The Notorious’ to the Octagon.

It is worth noting that ‘The Notorious’ recently lost $257,000 in a civil lawsuit and has even been asked to pay millions for the plaintiff’s legal fees. This case has also led him to lose out on several endorsements and contracts. So this decision to go for a big-money boxing fight might be based on all the recent happenings that have been taking place in his life lately. Based on how rich the Ambanis are and how lavish their recent family function was, they definitely can provide Conor McGregor with a fight that pays him his worth as a prize fighter.
