Joe Rogan single-handedly gave fight fans a rivalry they did not foresee. The Spotify podcaster’s comments on his show have pitted Jon Jones and Tyson Fury in an unprecedented rivalry. Rogan favored Jones to beat Fury if the pair were to be locked in a room together. This did not sit well with the ‘Gypsy King.’ His profanity-laden response to Rogan invited reactions from Jones, thus setting off the beef.

Now, UFC legend Chael Sonnen has come forward with messages of appreciation for Rogan. The three-time UFC title challenger credited Rogan for starting the whole thing. He also mentioned how big it was for a fight to have backing from Joe Rogan.

Further, Rogan’s idea caught on fire rather quickly and even got the green light from UFC President Dana White. Surprisingly, he was open to a crossover bout between Jones and Fury.

Chael Sonnen credits Joe Rogan for the Tyson Fury-Jon Jones feud

In a recent video posted on his YouTube channel, Sonnen discussed why Jon Jones vs. Tyson Fury may not happen. Nevertheless, he gave credit to Rogan for starting the conversation.

Sonnen said, “You’ve got Joe Rogan on board already. I think that Joe even started it.” He continued, “I think the first person to ever put Fury and Jones together in an apparatus known as a ring, I think it’s Joe Rogan. I don’t think either one of them did it.”

Later, Sonnen added some interesting arguments about the situation. He mentioned the importance of Rogan’s support. However, ‘The Bad Guy’ was doubtful if Rogan would have backed the fight if he didn’t introduce it.

The 46-year-old said, “It’s a huge deal if you can come to the table with Joe Rogan. Now I wouldn’t make believe for you that Joe would have gotten there eventually. But if that fight was announced that’s not something that Joe would have gotten behind.”

Further, the ex-UFC star had some interesting observations about Dana White as well. Despite White claiming to be open for the fight, Sonnen believed he said ‘yes’ but meant ‘no.’
