When Conor McGregor traded blows with Floyd Mayweather in 2017, he wasn’t just battling for supremacy. He also was inadvertently opening colossal doors for MMA fighters to step into the boxing ring. Since then, many UFC fighters have considered this path. Recently, Francis Ngannou has shown considerable interest in competing in the boxing ring against some of the best heavyweight boxers.

This was also one of the major reasons why ‘The Predator’ had a controversial split with Dana White and left the UFC. Moreover, MMA star Nate Diaz is another name who is entering this realm, with his boxing fight against Jake Paul fixed for 5th August. Now, another big UFC name might walk on the same journey. It is none other than the two time, and current UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno.

After being at the top of UFC’s flyweight division for nearly 3 years, ‘The Assassin Baby’ might be looking for a tougher challenge. In a video interview with Betr Combat, he revealed his intrigue and curiosity about the sport. Further, he shared that his coach has expressed confidence in his abilities, which has further fueled his belief in himself.

“I have this desire inside of me, like I wanna try to do some boxing in the future. My coach says I can do something nice, so I believe in him.”

Although Moreno acknowledged the potential risks involved, he exhibited a willingness to embrace the challenge, stating that if he were to be knocked out in the first round of his inaugural boxing match, he would view it as a valiant attempt.

While his boxing expedition might be far away, there is one thing Moreno needs to focus on right now – Alexandre Pantoja. The flyweight champion faces Pantoja at UFC 290 to defend his recently reclaimed flyweight title. Interestingly, Pantoja is one of the only three fighters who have defeated Moreno in the UFC.

The two fought each other at ‘UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Usman’ in 2018, where Pantoja won the bout via a unanimous decision. Moreover, Pantoja has been undefeated in the UFC since 2020, and is riding high on confidence, stepping into this title fight.
