Can Conor McGregor's last two UFC fights outshine Mayweather's $130 million spectacle?

Floyd Mayweather has been keeping himself busy these days. The boxing legend has inked a massive $130 million deal with Games Global to develop an online slot game featuring his image and likeness. Set to be launched by the end of 2024, this deal surely has helped Mayweather earn major profit.

Now, his 2017 opponent Conor McGregor too is trying to keep himself as busy as Mayweather while he is away from the Octagon. The co-owner of BKFC has recently revealed a high-seven-figure deal that BKFC has signed with DAZN. One that will surely make him a happy boss! But what about his UFC career now? Well, McGregor has finally equipped an answer while making Dana White an offer he can’t refuse.

In the post-fight press conference of BKFC 66, McGregor was asked to provide a timeline of what his future looks like, including UFC. That’s when the Notorious revealed that he has just two fights left in his UFC contract. And since his opponent Michael Chandler has secured a fight with Charles Oliveira for UFC 309, McGregor has made an interesting proposal. The Irishman has asked Dana White for another joint partnership fight, as he had with Mayweather.

A fight with him representing UFC while the other may be from his very own BKFC. He said, “I would love maybe an exemption. Or maybe a joint partnership, Bare Knuckle UFC, similar to McGregor Sports and Entertainment and Mayweather promotions. Some sort of agreement where we can get busy, you know. I need to be busy, and right now I’m working to get there. So let’s see what happens.” This would surely be a move that would help both promotions earn major profits.

The last time McGregor’s McGregor Sports and Entertainment company teamed up with Mayweather Promotions in 2017, they made “The Money Fight”. It was one of the most lucrative and widely viewed events in combat sports history. Similarly, a collaboration with Dana White’s UFC too can turn out to be a big money-maker for the two. But since he wants to keep himself busy, there is another option for McGregor. One that he seems highly interested in as well.

Conor McGregor launches into politics

Conor McGregor is one of the most popular mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters in the world. Even though he has not fought for more than three years. So he knows that he truly is a popular figure. As a result, the Irishman has set his sights outside the MMA cage: on politics. On his X account, he revealed his intention to run for office in his native country and become president next year.

Have an interesting take?

He wrote, “As President I hold the power to summon the Dail as well as dissolve it. So as I said before, I would have all the answers the people of Ireland seek from these thieves of the working man, these disrupters of the family unit, these destructors of small businesses, and on and on…” This is not the first time McGregor has mentioned the possibility of running for elected office, although this publication is a declaration of intent.

‘The Notorious’ is also not the only fighter who has expressed his desire to start a political career. Earlier this year, former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland was interested in winning a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, and Colby Covington—former interim welterweight champion—has floated the possibility of running for governor of Florida. So what do you think? Will McGregor go for a big money fight or will he join politics instead? Let us know in the comments.
