Tyson Fury paints the blame for sparking talks of a potential fight with Jon Jones on Joe Rogan. He believes the UFC commentator unloaded the woods that later caught the attention of combat sports fans’ imagination. Since then, the fire is raging hot and fans and pundits alike hotly debated the hypothetical fight. The rumors of a probable showdown between two greats in a cage puzzle him, and he cannot brush aside these “ridiculous” words.
The situation might be near fruition despite the WBC champion shunning the possibility of him squaring off against ‘Bones’. UFC President Dana White recently sent an official offer to the English boxer, who also confirmed the same. He said, “I received an offer from the UFC yesterday, so you never know what’s going to happen.” Despite the advancements, the heavyweight boxer traces the genesis of the fight to the color commentator’s comments on JRE.

The 34-year-old boxer, who is on a trip to Thailand, recently spent some time at the Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA Gym. After a few sessions of sparring, he had a Q&A with head coach George Hickman. In that conversation, he said, “To be honest with you, all this talk of a me and Jon Jones fighting in a cage is absolutely ridiculous.”
The Manchester native mentioned he was the lineal world heavyweight champion, and the thought of him going in a cage and wrestling evaded his senses. He then stated, “It was actually Joe Rogan, little sh*tbag, who [started this]. Just out of the blue. There was no talk of me or Jon [Jones] even fighting.”
“Jon’s a great guy, probably the GOAT of MMA. [Joe Rogan] said, ‘Oh if Tyson Fury goes in a room with Jon Jones he’s going to get absolutely smashed to bits’,” ‘The Gypsy King’ added later.
Fury and Jones going back and forth since Rogan’s comments
The 33-1 record holder then pointed out how the standup comic didn’t specify the rules under which they would have fought. But the fight talks received traction and he and the UFC champion have been going back and forth since.
Fury declared, “He [Joe Rogan] didn’t say an MMA fight or a boxing fight. He said, go in a room together and Tyson Fury’s not walking out. So I don’t know where it all started and Jon said something and I said something and we’ve being going back and forward.”
