Imagine coming off the back of the biggest loss of your boxing career only to find out almost exactly eight years later that you would be handed yet another monumental loss. Except this time outside a boxing ring against a fighter, you didn’t even have a match with. This is exactly what seems to have happened to Manny Pacquiao. Engaged in a long drawn-out legal battle with Paradigm Sports Management, the legendary Filipino boxer has found himself owing the company upwards of $5,000,000 over a potential money match between McGregor and Pacquiao that never came to fruition.
This dispute dates back to 2017 when the two fighters were in negotiations for a potential boxing match. ‘Pac-man’ claimed that he had signed a contract to fight Conor McGregor, but the Irishman denied the existence of any such agreement. Later the legendary boxer sued ‘Notorious’, but it would appear the lawsuit hasn’t ended up in his favor.

The legal battle has been long and bitter, with both sides trading barbs in the press and in court. Pacquiao’s lawyers argued that McGregor had acted in bad faith and had deliberately misled their client. This caused him to lose out on a lucrative payday. McGregor maintained that he had never agreed to fight Pacquiao. They alleged that the Filipino fighter was simply trying to cash in on his popularity.
Paradigm CEO Audie Attar said, “We are elated to learn of the jury’s ruling in Paradigm’s favor in our suit against Manny Pacquiao,” according to MMA Mania.
He continued, “The jury plainly found that Pacquiao testified falsely in denying Paradigm’s claims against him… His excuses for his conduct proves our case that a breach of contract was committed”.
The decision comes at the wrong time for ‘Pac-Man’ as it marks the anniversary of his loss to undefeated Floyd Mayweather.
Conor McGregor too has a financial stake at Paradigm Sports Management
The popular sports management company has McGregor interested in its internal dealing. This is owing to the financial stake the Irishman has in it. ‘The Notorious’ is one of the biggest clients of the sports management company. Furthermore, the news is sure to bring some joy to the life of the Irishman.
