Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou Scalled With NBA’s LA Lakers vs. Harlem Globetrotters as UFC Legend Pick Promotional Flaws

We are fast approaching the boxing match between Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury, which will take place this weekend. Meanwhile, UFC legend Chael Sonnen drew a comparison of that fight with the NBA’s La Lakers vs Harlem Globetrotters. He also slammed the fight for the lack of promotion in a video posted on his YouTube channel.

Francis Ngannou left the UFC only to be able to pursue other endeavors, and boxing was one of them. After he signed with the PFL, he was given the green signal to participate in a boxing match against WBC champion, Tyson Fury. However, Chael Sonnen believes that it is a huge mismatch. Chael Sonnen compares Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou to LA Lakers vs. Harlem Globetrotters

‘The American Gangster’ is not hoping to get much out of Francis Ngannou’s boxing match against Tyson Fury. He deemed that fight as a match between the LA Lakers and Harlem Globetrotters, which he believes is a big mismatch. Chael Sonnen said, “We’re getting close to the Globetrotters taking on the Lakers – the mismatch sporting event of my lifetime.”

He mentioned that the Globetrotters are nowhere near the caliber of the LA Lakers. However, people still don’t know how that match would go down. As such, they would be hoping to get something out of it.

“The globe trotters are well known and the Lakers are well known. The Globetrotters suck and the Lakers are really good. But does the audience know that? There’s still something fun there potentially… you just don’t know,” said Chael Sonnen.

The UFC legend also mentioned that he had listed a poll on his YouTube channel for the fans. From the poll, he wanted to know if the fans were interested in watching Ngannou fight Fury. However, they do not wish to witness that fight. Sonnen added, “I just put up a poll on my own YouTube [channel]. Thousands of you weighed in very quickly… Are you going to watch Francis [Ngannou] vs [Tyson] Fury? ‘Hell No’ was an option, ‘Hell No’ was at 90 percent.'” Moreover, he believes that ‘The Gypsy King’ may have lost interest in that fight as well.

UFC legend believes Tyson Fury is not too excited about fighting ‘The Predator’ anymore

One of the most talked about boxing events as of late was the Misfits X DAZN: Prime Card. The crossover boxing event garnered a considerable amount of viewers and interest, particularly due to its promotional tactics. Chael Sonnen compared that to the promotion of the Ngannou vs Fury fight and believes that the latter doesn’t come close to the crossover boxing event. As such, he believes that this is why the WBC champion has lost interest. Sonnen said, “The promotion for the Globetrotters [Ngannou] vs Fury is so bad in comparison to [Misfits X DAZN: Prime Card]… that Fury’s moved on.”

The promotion of the upcoming boxing match in Saudi Arabia has been so bad that Sonnen believes Tyson Fury is already thinking about his next fight. He recently agreed to fight Oleksandr Usyk and Chael Sonnen believes that Fury is using his fight against Ngannou as a marketing tool for the Usyk fight. “Fury’s already signed to do another fight, and he’s using the date and he’s using this opportunity as a marketing to get the word out for that one,” said ‘The American Gangster’.

While the fight may not have garnered as much interest as the fighters would have hoped for, people still want to see how Francis Ngannou would fare against Tyson Fury. Many big names are involved in that fight, including Mike Tyson, which is a big part of why people have some sort of interest in it. We will have to wait and see how things pan out on October 28th.
