Hence, it’s a pretty big household for Jailton Almeida. Now let’s take a look at how life was for him growing up in Salvador.

Jailton Almeida’s early life and background

Growing up in Salvador’s Brotas neighborhood, the first dream that Jailton Almeida ever had was to become a soccer player. For him to be able to join a soccer club, ‘Malhadinho’ needed 10,000 Brazilian Real ($1,645). The crippling nature of their financial situation couldn’t make that happen, and so the only choice the UFC star had was to follow his father’s path and start his boxing training at the tender age of 6. Five years later, he started his jiu-jitsu training, but he had to work some odd jobs, like a doorman or a guard due to persisting financial struggles, pausing his martial arts training.

It’s been a real struggle for Jailton Almeida because not many people would have made it in the difficult circumstances he grew up in. He’s developed into a pretty good fighter and it will be interesting to see how he fares against Sergey Spivak when they butt heads inside the Octagon.
