Did Conor McGregor just end Mike Perry's career with that brutal humiliation?

After Mike Perry was humiliated and knocked out by Jake Paul in their boxing match, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor so incensed was at Perry being slept by ‘The Problem Child’ in the sixth round, especially after the big game ‘Platinum’ had promised before the fight that ‘Mac’ took to social media to not only chew out the former UFC fighter but also ‘fire’ him. Perry, of course, is the face of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, of which ‘Mac’ is a co-owner.

More like ‘Mock-fired’ because Perry wasn’t actually let go from the promotion, of which he is the biggest star. Not for trying though, it’s just that McGregor doesn’t have the authority to firefighters from the promotion. Not to mention, Perry is a co-owner of the David Feldman-led promotion, just like ‘Mac’. So when asked by a fan on Twitter if Perry had been fired by the BKFC, ‘Mac’, using his sharp wit and comedy chops, sarcastically countered the fan with: “See him since?”

‘Mac’, of course, was being facetious and found a witty way to not so explicitly say Perry had been fired. After all, ‘Platinum’ is to bare-knuckle boxing what ‘The Notorious’ is to MMA- the sport’s biggest PPV seller. Since the Irishman owns shares in the BKFC,  getting rid of the guy who makes the most money for the promotion would only lead to its share and consequently ‘Mac’s net worth being adversely affected.

And given Perry’s status in the promotion, McGregor might be just indulging in typical trash talk business. It must also be taken into cognizance that the sport in question is a boxing match that the BKFC superstar took on in quite a short notice.

The fighter’s journey has seen its fair share of ups and downs too. Perry left the UFC with four losses out of his last five fights under the promotion. Yet, in the BKFC, he remains undefeated! So anticipating a comeback from the resilient comeback from the 32-year-old American doesn’t seem all that impossible.

Nevertheless, Perry is certainly not one to take jabs from the UFC star without firing back!

Conor McGregor tends to go berserk sometimes. The Irishman is well-known for his wild and incendiary outbursts on social media that follow events he doesn’t much care for. And that is precisely how ‘Mac’s response to Perry losing to Jake Paul can be described.

To be fair, McGregor does hate Jake Paul with a passion. After all ‘The Problem Child’ had taken vile shots at ‘Mac’s long-time fiancee back in 2020 when he was trying to convince McGregor to fight him. And his fury at Paul having another win over another combat sports veteran, and one associated with McGregor himself no less was palpable.

This is why the Irishman took to Twitter soon after the fight ended and after taking shots at Paul, turned his guns towards Perry. “Hey Mike youre released and you can go and compete in your smelly dirty boxing championship thing… The smell of it, good luck. You’re fired. @bareknucklefc,” an incensed McGregor tweeted.

Even Jake Paul, whose job description includes being a professional troll had to admit that the UFC superstar’s outburst at Perry was “f***ed up.” Perry wisely shrugged off ‘Mac’s insults and attributed them to ‘Mac’ ‘stirring the pot’ per usual and asserted confidently that “Everybody wants to see me fight.” That was also followed by a swift clarification of his own stake in the promotion, “He doesn’t have a promotion because me and him are owners of BKFC, so he can’t fire me.” But that of course, hasn’t stopped Conor McGregor from pretending that he has been fired.
