Adding insult to injury, Conor McGregor had publicly ‘fired’ Mike Perry after the BKFC star was knocked out by Jake Paul in their boxing match earlier this year. In a recent interview on the sidelines of a BKFC press conference, Mac was asked yet again if Platinum had indeed been let go. To which the bombastic Irishman had a short but clear message: “Mike Perry’s sacked still, still fired.”
Of course, the former UFC two-division champion is a part-owner of the BKFC and was recently made its Vice President. On paper at least, he seemingly does have the power to let Perry go from the promotion. However, as Joe Rogan had pointed out in his podcast after the Paul-Perry fight, ‘Platinum’, just like McGregor, is also a part-owner of the BKFC and cannot actually be fired by ‘Mac’.
A fact Perry had reminded McGregor of after being ‘fired’. “He doesn’t f*cking have a promotion. Me and him are both owners of BKFC, so he can’t fire me,” the BKFC star had said defiantly.

Not to mention Perry is to the BKFC as Conor McGregor is to the UFC, i.e., the promotion’s biggest-ever star. And firing him will not only harm the BKFC but also ‘Mac’s own pockets. After all, Perry’s exit will undoubtedly hurt the fledgling promotion’s share prices.

Of course, McGregor is not one to let a little bit of truth stand in the way of a good, punchy line, which is what makes him so entertaining to fans. However, after ‘firing’ Perry, it seems the Dubliner is looking for replacements.
Conor McGregor wants to fight Floyd Mayweather in BKFC
Conor McGregor called out retired undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather for a rematch of their 2017 super-fight, but this time in the BKFC. The Irishman had his biggest-ever paycheck in his boxing match with ‘Money’ and is looking for another payday as his UFC career stalls.

What’s your perspective on:
Is McGregor's 'firing' of Perry just another publicity stunt, or is there more to the story?
Have an interesting take?
Not to mention the boost a McGregor-Mayweather clash will have on the popularity and fame of the BKFC. But the Irishman is not very picky and will take whatever he can get. In an interview, he was asked which boxers and mixed martial artists he would like to see cross over to bare knuckle. To which ‘Mac’ answered simply “Every single one of them with the balls to do it. Very few of them have the balls to do it. So anyone who has the balls to step up has my respect.” Of course, the BKFC has had a few UFC stars like Eddie Alvarez and Chad Mendes already fight under its umbrella. Even Mike Perry is a former UFC star!
McGregor seems eager to fight anyone, whether it’s in the UFC or boxing. But he wants to get rid of BKFC’s top fighter, Perry. What do you think of McGregor trying to ‘fire’ Perry?
