Previously, in an interview with MMA Junkie, MVP revealed that his skills in jiu-jitsu were far lower than that of Yamauchi’s. Hence, the only way for him to win would be via a knockout. Furthermore, he declared that he didn’t need to prove that to anyone.

Page said, “I don’t need to prove to anybody that I can do jiu-jitsu. I’m just not your level. I haven’t done it as long as you, and I’m not as skilled as you and I can accept it, put my ego to one side and then just try to knock you out, because that’s what I do best.”
