Well, something like this; not necessarily of the same magnitude; was bound to happen, what with all the speculation regarding the possibility of these two fighters facing each other next. While the verbal trade-off was already quite strong between the two, this confrontation escalated things to a very high pedestal very quickly.

The President of Ultimate Fighting championship, Dana White, claimed that as a result of this incident, he was forced to prematurely announce a fight for the Welterweight Championship between the two brawlers.

This does bring to mind a lot of questions concerning the genuineness of this stand-off, as everything seemed to conveniently fall into place in order to create a hyped-up Championship bout. Yet, scripting by fighters is something everyone is reluctant to believe, and rightly so. The beasts are obviously better than that, right?

Amidst all sorts of conspiracy theories flying about regarding the too-good-to-be-true sequence of events, Michael Bisping offers the most believable and logical one.

Michael Bisping on Jorge Masvidal vs Kamaru Usman altercation

Michael Bisping, a hall-of-famer, bid farewell to the UFC with a rather commendable record of 30 – 9 – 0. He is now a sports analyst, commentator and actor. A successful conspiracy theorist might just be on the table as well.

In his rather interesting take regarding the Super Bowl incident, Bisping said, “Listen, if you put them in the same room, and one of the guys there the black gentleman, he works for the UFC. He’s one of the PR guys, Dave? Ah man, anyway I forget his name. So maybe this was scheduled by the UFC. Maybe they know what they were doing because now Dana accidentally mentioned that the fight’s gonna be happening in International Fight Week later this year in the summer. I mean that’s a fantastic fight and it’s a logical match-up anyway. I don’t really think he let anything out of the bag there. Scheduled them to both be giving interviews at the same place at the same time with tons of media around. If you’re gonna do it, that’s a smart setup. Get them to have a fight when there’s nothing but media around everywhere for the Super Bowl. I mean holy sh*t, that’s great promotion for a fight”.

The theory Bisping offers seems to be the best available explanation for the serier of consequences that took place. If it’s true, UFC has successfully outdone itself in terms of hyping up the match-up, as its effect definitely has the fans all riled up and waiting for the Championship battle.
