Conor McGregor is waiting to get his revenge against Khabib Nurmagomedov. The President of UFC, Dana White, too, has gone on record to say that McGregor vs. Khabib will probably be the next fixture for the two.

On the other hand, Khabib has denied all claims regarding the possibility of such a fixture. The Eagle stands firm by his stance of only facing McGregor once he has earned the matchup by defeating those already in line for a title match. Interestingly, Khabib’s coach, Javier Mendes does not share the same views.

While it is true that fighters do have a say in whether they are up for a fight, it is largely the UFC’s monopoly that decides who will fight whom. Commenting on the same, Mendes said, “Let’s not be naive and think that we’re in control. We’re not in control. We can control what we do, but the organization controls who you fight and who you don’t fight.” The statement comes amidst rumors of McGregor posing as the backup for the main event of UFC 249: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson.

The reasons Khabib has for his unwilling stance towards an immediate rematch with McGregor are justified. Yet, the factors that come into play supporting an immediate rematch are far more convincing.

The two had earlier met at UFC 229, which turned out to be one of the most commercially successful events for UFC. Khabib bagged a clear victory after executing a deadly submission move.

While the fight was sensational enough, the excitement did not end there. Some of Khabib’s teammates proceeded to jump over the cage in an attempt to attack McGregor after the fight.

While all this sensationalism in itself is more than enough to call for a rematch as soon as possible in order to settle all scores once and for all, there is one more reason. Conor Mcgregor’s 40-second win over Donald Cerrone introduced the UFC Universe to a newer, stronger and better Mcgregor.

All these reasons fall in line with Dana White‘s statements regarding the rematch. Do you think that a rematch between The Notorious and The Eagle should be fixed as early as possible?
