Jorge Masvidal has shown interest in fighting McGregor ahead of his welterweight return. Masvidal, who had an incredible 2019, looks to raise the bar as he eyes a potential match against McGregor. Masvidal has repeatedly called out McGregor after beating Nate Diaz for the BMF title back in Oct. 2019 at UFC 244.

“I will face Jorge. I am not going to 170 just for Jorge. He hasn’t gotten really anything out. I wasn’t really happy with how that Bad Motherf****r thing ended. I think it was unfinished in my opinion. That belt is unfinished. It was only getting into a good belt, I believe. So, we were robbed of round four and five in that belt.”
Conor looked more interested in the welterweight title fight than Masvidal. He mentioned how he didn’t jump to the welterweight division for just Jorge, but is keen on fighting even Colby, and Usman.
“That bad motherf****r is a silver one, it’s not the best looking belt. I don’t really care about that belt, I want the gold. I am after the gold. 155, 170.”
However, Masvidal has come out with a statement following Conor’s decision to go after the welterweight title. He took to Twitter to send out the following reply. He said that he is not going to bully Conor into a match. Both the fighters meeting inside the octagon is far from reality right now. However, if Masvidal is able to capture the welterweight title, Conor will come back looking for the UFC gold.

Masvidal is comfortably sitting at the 3rd position in the welterweight rankings. He is in line for the UFC welterweight title and may face Kamaru Usman next. Following Conor’s disinterest in fighting Masvidal, it is the next best option for him to fight for the UFC welterweight title. Masvidal is at the peak right now and hence should capitalize on his victories for a shot at the title belt.
