Israel Adesanya is currently one of the most dominating fighters in the world of MMA. His elegant style along with deterrence inside the octagon makes him a force to reckon with. He is the present UFC Middleweight Champion and plans to defend his title and keep his division engaged.
Adesanya has gone on record time and again to challenge the Light Heavyweight Champion,
Jon Jones. The two are aching to fight each other at some point in the future and have left no stones unturned to call each other out.ADVERTISEMENT

The President of UFC, Dana White, too, has gone on record to confirm that he will allow a matchup between the two only if certain conditions are met. These conditions largely include Israel Adesanya’s win against a few more opponents in his current division and Adesanya agrees with the boss. He told interviewers that he had been stuck in his division because champions kept dropping out of fights. He aims to defend his title, and maybe even make a streak of successful title defenses.
Amongst all this ruckus of Jones vs. Adesanya, Eugene Bareman has come out with a rather astonishing statement.
Israel Adesanya Will Challenge Stipe Miocic: Eugene Bareman
In a bizarre turn of events, City Kickboxing coach Eugene Bareman, who also trains Adesanya, said, “Yeah, that’s the fight. If Israel can get the business done at middleweight, and if he’s successful he will definitely look to move and challenge Stipe. That’s a serious thing. But for us, we’re not paying immediate attention to it. There’s just so much that we have to put our concentration into now that it’s on the back burner. It’s in the back of our minds. So, yeah, let’s see if that hurries along Jon Jones.”

Seems like while the UFC Universe is pinned to the idea of Israel vs. Jones, Eugene has other plans.
Regarding the fight with Jon Jones, he said, “I mean, that’s the thing, it’s not up to Israel. I make the decision on the fight. So, come 2021, Israel has to convince me that we should fight Jon Jones. And if I don’t feel that we have to, then it’s not gonna happen. It’s not even Israel’s call. For all of Jon Jones’ faults as a person, he’s still a very, very good fighter and to prepare for someone of that nature, who’s that good, the prep for that sort of fight starts now. Yeah, but I’ve already stated that I don’t think that fight’s necessary. I think we’re on a different path, I just think we’re on a different journey. Israel’s got a lot of convincing to do before that fight happens.”
This comes as a huge bummer for all fans waiting to see ‘Bones’ Jones and ‘The Last Stylebender’ battle it out. But all hope is not lost. Adesanya has proven his mettle in the UFC within just two years. Thus, it won’t be surprising if Adesanya manages to convince his trainer earlier than he expects. What Adesanya wants, he gets.

The one thing that stands unaffected is that Adesanya first needs to get his business over within the Middleweight decision. Only then can he venture out to challenge other champions. The results of these fights in the Middleweight category will determine Adesanya’s future.
