Charles Oliveira is a dangerous Lightweight fighter who has some of the biggest wins to his name. In 2022, Oliveira secured a win over Justin Gaethje but lost to Islam Makhachev. However, he was looking to make a comeback this year and did so successfully after winning at the UFC 289 by defeating Beneil Dariush.

Now, Oliveira is looking to get back on the top and wants another title opportunity. Since his last loss to the Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, Oliveira has been eager for his shot at redemption. Now, with an emphatic win against Dariush, he is convinced that Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev: 2 makes a lot of sense.

Most people who understand UFC and martial arts, understand that Charles Oliveira is a true genius when it comes to MMA. He is an extremely entertaining fighter to watch as well and he has a huge, loyal fan base. However, interestingly, Oliveira himself seems to be a fan of the UFC Heavyweight champion, Jon Jones.

After Jones secured a win against Ciryl Gane and once again became the UFC champion, he has been looking for his next fight. It just so happens that Stipe Miocic is the fighter who is slated to take on Jon Jones. In a recent interview with The Schmo on YouTube, Oliveira was asked who he thinks would win between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic and why.

The translator for the interview translated Oliveira, who said, “Uh, Jon Jones for sure… um… Submission.“. Remembering Jones’ quick victory over Ciryl Gane for the title win, the host asked if he thought it would be similar to that. To that, Oliveira replied and the translator translated, saying, “Yeah, he is… super big fan of Jones and, that’s just how he feels.  He thinks he’s going to be able to put him down and…submit him.“.

Oliveira’s Title Reign – Next on the card? Multiple Possibilities

Oliveira took some time to recover from his tragic loss to current Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. He returned and beat one of the top title contenders, Beneil Dariush. Ideally, for him, a second shot at the title makes sense and he has been quite open about it. However, there are other possibilities as well.

The Lightweight division is looking dangerous with incredible fighters actively looking for their next opponents. Following Conor McGregor‘s failure to return to the UFC this year, his former TUF rival Michael Chandler is left without an opponent. Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier are all set to battle it out for the second time at UFC 291. The first bout between them took place back in 2018, with Poirier taking the win.
