UFC superstar Conor McGregor was on cloud nine after winning the first-ever UFC card at the MSG. Not only did he win the UFC lightweight championship in one of the most dominant performances in a championship fight, but also he became the first-ever simultaneous dual weight champion in the promotion’s history. In addition, he had a future booking with the boxing legend and undefeated, Floyd Mayweather.

Thus, with all the success, McGregor, who was known for his brash talk with the UFC fighters, had taken a step further and put the golf legend Tiger Woods under the bus.

On June 4, 2017, McGregor took a shot at the 15-time major winner.

McGregor posted a picture of his shoe and socks, both of which had a tiger printed on them. Subsequently, ‘The Notorious’ played with the words and wrote, “A lion would never act the bollox. But a tiger wood.”

This came after Woods got into trouble with the law a week prior in Jupiter, Florida.

However, the reason for ‘The Notorious’ taking a dig at the golf legend stayed a mystery. As far as the speculations go, it could be because of Conor McGregor’s association with the golfer, Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy and McGregor had shared some time at the UFC 202 after-party after the Irish superstar had avenged his sole loss in the UFC against a bitter rival, Nate Diaz.

Though this knock from McGregor made little sense, these are the things that got him into the biggest boxing fight of the last decade, when he fought Floyd Mayweather in a remarkable event.
