UFC featherweight Giga Chikadze stole the show on his first UFC headlining event with a blistering TKO win over Edson Barboza. The Georgian sensation put on a striking masterclass and outstruck Barboza which is no mean feat by any estimation. He earned the stoppage in the third round after rocking Barboza on the feet several times.

Edson Barboza fought back valiantly even after being stunned and dropped on the canvas as he tried to ward off submission attempts. He even attempted a heel hook in sheer desperation, however, Chikadze was in control of the fight. Referee Jason Herzog had no choice but to step in and call-off the fight as Barboza was nearly out on his feet.

“I’ve been waiting for this moment. Max or reserve title fight. That’s why I’m here.”

Max Holloway was slated to face fellow top-ranked featherweight, Yair Rodriguez who has been off for two years. However, ‘El Pantera’s return was delayed even further after the aforementioned fight fell out. With Giga Chikadze now in the mix, the demand to see him go toe-to-toe against Max Holloway is sure to be immense.
