The main card for UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs Edgar will see a critical clash in the women’s 125-pound division. Mariya Agapova will face the aggressive Shana Dobson in a fight that is sure to be a barn-burner. Agapova called for the aforementioned match-up and it appears as though the UFC brass is more than happy to oblige.

The women’s Strawweight division is being held hostage by Kyrgyzstani fighter and undisputed champion Valentina Shevchenko. ‘The Bullet’ makes quick work of her opposition and hardly shows signs of slowing down. After losing her shot on Dana White’s contender series, she picked up two impressive finishes at Invicta before entering the UFC. Moreover, yet another stoppage win came in her UFC debut on June 13 against Hannah Cifers.

She manages to counter punch effectively on the back foot, whilst also being proficient in the clinch. Chiefly, it is unknown whether she will come in with a strength deficit to Dobson who hangs on her opponents. Additionally, Mariya Agapova has increasingly sharp defensive abilities when being pressed against the cage.

Shana Dobson (3-4) is in a must-win situation in her scheduled bout, coming in off a 3 fight skid in the promotion. Coming off a 40 second KO loss in her last outing could affect her mindset given her inexperience on the big stage. Moreover, she has struggled against the style that Agapova brings as seen in her second pro fight against Nicco Montano.

Dobson will have to be extremely wary when entering into the range of Agapova as it traditionally hasn’t ended well. Shana Dobson is a fast starter, she manages to maintain a relatively consistent pace in the fight. Although she is backed against the wall ahead of the fight, the variation and confidence that Agapova brings to the table may prove too much.
