A women’s bantamweight bout featured on UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs Oleinik. Here, eighth-ranked contender, Yana Kunitskaya, took on Julija Stoliarenko in what turned out to be a one-sided annihilation.
‘Foxy’ maintained double-digit minutes of control time over Stoliarenko. She kept her pinned to the cage and the ground for much of the fifteen-minute contest.
En route, the bantamweight contender landed 209 strikes across three rounds to average almost seventy strikes per round. In contrast, her opponent registered a paltry thirty strikes. As a result, the fight earned a spot in the UFC history books for the highest strike differential in the women’s 135 pounds category.

Yana Kunitskaya promises to become stronger in wrestling
Kunitskaya shed light on her wrestling game in the post-fight octagon side chat and vowed to strengthen it even more.
She said, “Everyone thinks that I am striker and because I started with striking. I think I have big potential in wrestling. My body have big shoulders. I have good strength so I will try to improve on this part and will try to be more rounded. And maybe in the future it will be my strongest part.” (via UFC News)
This has been Kunitskaya’s training plan right from the start, as she revealed that she kept working on her striking too.
The eighth-ranked bantamweight said, “Yeah, I was focused in a lot of things that was missing before in the wrestling game and the striking game too.”
Given her inclination to improve as a wrestler and her stupendous success as a striker, she may have sent a warning to the bantamweight division that she intends to be a serious threat. On the other side, Stoliarenko will want to forget her UFC debut, which ended her five-fight win streak. The 27-year-old will be eager to get a win in the promotion quickly.
