Katlyn Chookagian is set to welcome former 115-pound champion, Jessica Andrade, to the UFC women’s flyweight division. The bout is the co-main event feature at UFC Fight Island 6 and replaces Cyril Gane vs Ante Delija.
The 125-pound division is being spearheaded by ‘The Bullet’ Valentina Shevchenko who has run through title challengers. Her dominance has led the promotion to seek new challengers, and Andrade’s presence adds a new wrinkle. Moreover, there’s no doubt that the new blood in the weight class brings about an added sense of urgency for divisional staples.

UFC women’s flyweights: Katlyn Chookagian vs Jessica Andrade
The top divisional contender, Chookagian has gone 3-1 in her last four fights that include a loss to the divisional champion back in February. She is now back to the win column after defeating Antonina Shevchenko by unanimous decision. ‘The Blonde Fighter’ brings forth several physical attributes over her opponent. This includes an 8-inch height advantage.
Jessica Andrade is coming off two straight losses, albeit to high-level competition. Prior to her losses to Weili Zhang and Rose Namajunas, she was on a four-fight streak that enabled her to fight for the title. Now faced with an opportunity to forge a new path at flyweight, ‘Bate Estaca’ is jumping into the deep end. A win over Chookagian would put her right in line to try to capture a second belt.

Jessica Andrade relies on close-range pressure and is lethal once she circles into her power side against the cage. However, she hasn’t always been effective when it comes to covering distance. The general consensus is that she would likely be at the mercy of Katlyn’s jab.
Prediction: Katlyn Chookagian to claim a unanimous decision victory.
