To say that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a big impact on our everyday lives would be a gross understatement. But who would want to still be living in the fear and anxiety caused by the first wave of 2020? Well, enter Dana White.

In a recent press conference, the UFC President seemed to have confused the current year we’re living in, 2022, with two years ago, 2020. Or to be more precise, the situation Formula 1 found themselves in then to now.

White was asked by an Australian journalist whether UFC plans to bring an event to the down-under in 2022, to which he replied, “No, we won’t be there this year. That place is still locked down.”

He added, “I can’t risk trying to bring a show over there, get there, and have it shut down. I mean, I think that’s happened to Formula 1, didn’t it?”

What White is referring to here, happened in 2020 when the Australian Grand Prix had to be called off during the race weekend itself.

Naturally, the journalist tried correcting the UFC President because, well, the Australian GP is ongoing and going pretty well with a reconfigured track and a full-house crowd that saw Ferrari take the win.

“I think it’s still on,” the journalist corrected him. “It’s still on, Melbourne.”

“Didn’t it get canceled? The cars were on the track and the show got canceled,” White wondered. “It’s happening? They didn’t shut it down?”

Regardless, he concluded the ‘answer’ by saying, “I was hearing yesterday that they shut it down. I don’t know. Hope I answered your question.”

The UFC President added that regardless of the money the Lakers superstar has made, he’s “by no means” in bother. “He’s all the time attempting to be higher and all the time attempting to win,” White said.
