It’s been a while since Conor McGregor stepped into the UFC octagon. Since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, there have been a lot of rumors and speculations regarding his UFC return. Many fighters have called out the former lightweight champion, but McGregor has not accepted any fights yet. However, Frankie Edgar seems persistent for a fight with Conor McGregor as he has been campaigning for a meaningful period now.

The former UFC champion, Frankie Edgar again called out Conor McGregor in a recent interview with ESPN. Talking about whether the fight is going to happen, Edgar said:

“I am here if he wants to fight me across many channels. I told him I want to fight him, I told UFC I want to fight him. But honestly, I don’t think UFC wants that fight. I don’t know whether they don’t want it because they don’t want him to lose to me, or they don’t think they can build it. but ultimately it’s up to him. if he forces it can happen. The ball is in his court.”

Conor McGregor has called out a whole bunch of fighters since his last fight. Donald Cerrone, Jorge Masvidal, Anderson Silva, and Justin Gaethje are to name the few. However, he has not accepted any fight when the opponent agrees to the fight. It’s safe to say that it is hard to understand what McGregor is trying to pull off with these theatrics. Commenting why McGregor would not accept the fight, Edgar said:

“He is a tough guy to figure out. Maybe he thinks he can beat me. that’s probably number one, he thinks he can beat me. I am a name, I have been doing this for a while. I think it’s a good fight for him or he thinks it’s a good fight for him. If he thinks he can beat me then let’s go.”

It’s been more than 3 years since Conor McGregor won a fight in UFC and to make things worse he has disappointed his fans with his activities outside the ring. Frankie Edgar believes that this fight will help McGregor put a better image for himself as he said:

“It’s a great fight. He is coming off a couple of losses. He needs a win. I feel like after all the shit he has been with throwing the phone, hitting the dude he has got a little bad press. Come and fight me I am not gonna talk junk. He kind of gets a little clean bill of health after me and maybe I will bring up his morale in a sense.”

Frankie Edgar lost his last fight the Max Holloway and announced that he was moving down to bantamweight division. However, at the moment he has no opponent for his next fight.
